FDR in 1936: "Let Me Warn You". Poignant words equally applicable today
I saw this earlier today and was impressed with how distinct it is in today's time. When I turn on the TV, I see Republican's on every news show saying the same things that Roosevelt is addressing in this speech.

You owe it to yourself to see this.

It's amazing how people are trying to rewrite history today to besmirch this true American Hero.

2. look at some of the comments posted there!!
something about how gw never screwed around on his wife or something. someone trying to say that FDR made the depression worse?? wtf is wrong with people. first of all, whether someone is unfaithful to his wife doesn't really have much to do with what kind of president he is or was!!! give me a damned break!!!

3. The GOP is busily trying to rewrite history
We have to defend it at all costs.

America owes a great debt to FDR for seeing us through some terrible times. I'm reading a biography of FDR and his is an amazing story.

If you have the inclination, pick up "Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Champion Of Freedom" by Conrad Black. A large read, but its engrossing and very well researched. To me, it's the best glimpse of this President as he was that is out there.

6. What a marvelous speaker he is...his delivery is masterful...
I've never seen him in a speech like this before - they are all so serious. What an excellent slap down of the Republicans!

7. I can see why Obama and Roosevelt are compared so often
The similarities are striking.

However, Roosevelt didn't blink when he stared down the corporate juggernaut of his time. Obama has yet to do that, but I think it will happen and we will all be better off for it.

8. Thanks for this!
I bookmarked it for viewing again with the offspring.

The reichwing has been trying in earnest to undo everything that Roosevelt did for at least 3 decades. I think that some are waking up to what that would entail. :hi:

9. Quite welcome
The Right-wing is afraid Obama might become another American hero and success story, much like Roosevelt in his time. The similarities are striking to say the least.

10. If Landon had given one more speech, Roosevelt would have carried Canada too.

11. I've been engrossing myself in all things FDR
The man is an inspiration to our country, especially in today's times.

If you've got some time, take a look at all of his speeches that are on YouTube. It's amazing how many similarities there are with our country today.
