Gay wedding row at Queen Mother's castle
'The Castle of Mey, the late Queen Mother’s former Scottish home, has upset gay groups by proposing only to host marriages ‘conducted by a minister or priest’.

TRUSTEES of the Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother's former Scottish home, are at the centre of a row after insisting only religious marriages will be permitted on the property, pulling up the drawbridge to civil ceremonies or gay partnerships.

Management thought they could earn extra funds during the quiet winter months by promoting the late Queen Mother's beloved castle as "Scotland's latest romantic wedding venue".

But the move has led to gay groups alleging discrimination and insisting the venue should be open to all.'

1. Sounds fair to me
After all, no taxes are levied on gay persons in England, so if they don't help pay for the upkeep, why should gay people expect to be able to use the castle to celebrate and solemnize their relationships? Am I right or am I incredibly right?

3. Explain????
Surely gay people pay the same taxes as straight people in the U.K.

I was just over there in November and saw no evidence of this...

Is this :sarcasm:?

4. What? They levy taxes on gay people, too?
Well, now it just seems rather unfair to deny a public accommodation to them, one that is made available to other people.

Yes. I guess it might have been sarcasm. For all the bigotry and discrimination and exclusion suffered by sexual minorities from government, you'd think that those same governments would be far too proud to accept tax income from sexual minorities.
