ABC News Radio Anchorman Found Dead
George Weber, 50, Found Dead in Apartment; Police Suspect Homicide
By SHEILA MARIKAR
March 22, 2009

Veteran ABC Radio newscaster George Weber has been found dead in his Brooklyn, N.Y., apartment in what police believe was a homicide.

Police responded to a missing person call at 9 a.m. Sunday and found Weber, 50, in his apartment with a wound to his neck, according to a police report. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.

An investigation into Weber's death is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the death of our colleague and friend George Weber who was the victim of what police have deemed a homicide at his home in Brooklyn," said Steve Jones, vice president and general manager of ABC News Radio.

"An investigation has been launched by NYPD and we have been assisting them," he added. "Our condolences and prayers go out to George's family and friends at this very difficult time."

2. So, did his assailant take the time to make it look like a burglary,
...or was this a straight-up hit?

3. I suppose it's plausible that this was a 'hit'
because of sensitive information to which he became privy. A casual glance at his blog, however, doesn't indicate that Mr. Weber was the sort of journalist in whom whistleblowers would confide.

Then again, WTF do *I* know?

Sad business, any way you look at it.

5. Knowing this information, my guess would be:
Somebody could have found out he kept an unlocked door and decided to rob him.

6. George Weber didn't have a bad bone in his body
and was well liked and respected as a person and as a professional. His was a refreshing voice to hear that always brought a smile and cheer the listener. It's sad to see the good die so young, but he did bring a ray of sunshine everyday into people's lives.
