Crybaby CEOs and bankers threaten to leave over taxes? Fuck them, let them go.

<snip>
Senior executives on both sides of the Atlantic on Friday warned of an exodus of talent from some of the biggest names in US finance, saying the “anti-American” measures smacked of “a McCarthy witch-hunt” that would send the country “back to the stone age”.
<snip>

Boo-hoo-fucking-hoo! Do these millionaires really expect sympathy from the public because their bonuses may be taxed? They did not EARN any of that money, they should be lucky that Congress doesn't tax it at 100%. If they keep one fucking penny, that's one penny too much AFAIC.

And if they want to quit? LET THEM. With unemployment the way it is nowadays, it would not be hard whatsoever to fill their positions. Hell, I'm sure there are PLENTY of people out there who would gladly take their positions for a fraction of what they make! There are lots of highly intelligent, motivated, experienced people in this country. If these greedy selfish bastards want to leave, the door is wide open!

5. Where the hell are they going to go?
It's not the money they're so wedded to, although they do love money, it's the power the jobs confer.

While some of them have managed to save their outrageous salaries and now have seed money to open their own businesses, few are equipped to do so since keeping up with the corporate Joneses was so expensive a proposition.

Retirement isn't going to suit any of that "talent." If they are truly talented, they'll find an outlet. If they're not, good riddance.

8. It's a scare tactic
One that may have worked a few years ago, but with all those unemployed financial workers out there, I really don't thing these cry babies are going anywhere! If they do they are dumber than I thought because where the hell are they going to find another job?

21. Yes. And where is this shangra la that all of these John Galts are going to? Dubai?
Let them get a taste of the 'freedom' that they'll get over there.

I too, am so tired of this empty threat? Like the Republican filibuster that never actually happens?

I say call their bluff.

We'll go "back to stone age" without the "expertise" of these criminal nitwits? This is what you get after 30 years of a Gordon Gecko subculture-- a class of parasites who think the country will collapse without them. No wonder they feel comfortable handing themselves millions upon millions of dollars-- they actually believe that they're important.

But let's be honest-- where the hell are they going to go? It's like these executives who say they need retention bonuses. Why, exactly? Are we supposed to believe they've got better offers elsewhere? GO.

12. For a tiny fraction of what we're spending on TARPs, bailouts, and other odd things
We could put every last one of these thieves on a plane to one of the 'stans and let them bring those economies out of the stone age.

For a little bit more we could tar and feather 'em before they left.

I'd be willing to cough up my share of what it takes.

13. I can screw up a company for 1/4 the salary, and STILL be set for life.
Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 05:11 PM by HughBeaumont
"Punishing Success" my ASS. Don't you have to BE a success before we can "punish" you for it? As it is now, most compensation packages reward failure. This is why I don't find it in my best interests to get an MBA. One, it's too costly. Two, an MBA is like the Bachelor's degree from 10 years ago (i.e. everyone has one and you're no longer special or stand out because of it). Three, where's the ROI? What's in it for me to strive for something that doesn't guarantee me security, as I'm still pretty much at the mercy of those above me who can screw up and still get bonuses and perks no matter what?

14. how about this ... since the Repukes liked the actions taken with the banks under the Patriot act ..
freeze the U.S. assets, and then (without a subpoena) access all their financial records and transactions, and have the foreign banks freeze their accounts? See how long they'll last then ...

16. Somebody should pour salt on these slugs; see if they melt.
Stupid wankers; they fuck up the whole system and have the nerve to say they are talent and will leave? I can think of a more apropos epithet beginning with "T", and it's not "talent" either.

Trash.

Kick 'em to the curb.

17. It is just kabuki theatre
These execs know that there is absolutely zero percent chance that any of them would ever pay a penny of taxes under that unconstitutional bill. And the House knows it too. This is nothing but a little stage show presented by our government and their masters for your entertainment.

Now go back to the basketball games. Nothing to see here.

So we have babies in other countries demanding that we give them our hard earned dollars after they lost half of what I had saved up all ready?

Pardon my French, but go fuck yourselves.

22. This is a bluff; the next step is coming in which
the gov't points out that these wealthy execs and ex-execs have been signing the papers and balance sheets their companies filed to the SEC knowing full well that it was all bullshit.

Then the execs looted their companies (shareholders, employees) to the tune of billions of dollars on the basis of these false earnings reports.

THEN, we start asking whether it makes sense to claw back some of the billions these psychopaths have stolen and hidden in their (formerly-secret) Swiss accounts.

I'm not saying (but I'm praying) that it will happen, but soon the question will be asked... should we go after exec compensation from 2007? 2006? Etc.
