Some call them parasite businesses. Some call them necessary
I see them as, at best, distasteful. But so are undertakers.

To wit:

Foreclosure specialists

Companies to help you avoid paying your taxes

Collection agencies

Repo men

Debt consolidators

Gold buyers

"We Buy Houses"

Can you add to the list?

29. They're not the ONLY ones who are doing this
Colortyme is starting to sell wheels on Rent to Own--there are three stores in North Carolina and one in South Carolina.

According to autotrader.com, there are at least 160 rent-to-own wheel stores nationwide, and there are at least seven chains.

This ain't the most sustainable business model around...the tread on the cheap-ass tires they put on bling-bling wheels ain't gonna last a full year, and those tires are WAY overpriced.

9. Predatory lenders whose rates would make a loan shark blush
but the companies you cited have a useful purpose. As disheartening as it is to see a repo man making off with the new car when you've lost a job, his job is what makes lenders feel safe in extending car loans to people who might lose jobs, just as an example I wouldn't call them parasitic as much as bottom feeding. The legalized loan sharks are the parasites.

12. Eviction Specialists - Important for renters.
I guess renters aren't considered as important in some regards as home owners. They sure are ignored by the media. Has anyone noticed that rental rates are super high these days? Almost as high as a mortgage, with none of the write offs?

I hate the ads which say, "We've been providing quality evictions since 19xx."

What exactly is a quality eviction? Do they stack your stuff on the lawn more neatly? Quality eviction, yeah right. The people in these businesses are scum!

Except the Green Bay Packers since they are actually owned by the city which means any subsidy they get could actually benefit the community instead of a rich owner.

26. Im love my personal injury attorney.
He is the only reason the insurance companies are still negotiating on my injury and treatment. They bet. They lost. And they are welshing on the bet.

He is holding their feet to the fire.

Stop repeating Rushes talking points without examining them. Tort reform is by, for and of the rich.

28. I thought we were talking about necessary evils
IMHO personal injury lawyers are a necessary evil. They get rich off someone else's misfortune - which I thought was the subject of this thread. I made no comment of any kind beyond that. You kneejerked.
