Corrine Brown is really embarrassing.
I don't know if anyone has seen the YouTube video that's been passed around the internet, but it really makes me cringe.

Seriously, how the hell does she keep getting re-elected? She makes Bush sound literate.

Oh and for those who can stomach the embarrassment...

2. I won't watch it, but I know exactly what you're referring to. I couldn't
believe this woman was a professional elected official when I got my first glimpse of her, during the primaries.

3. It truly is painful. I have no ill toward her, but I can't help but feel extremely sorry...
For not only her, but her constituents.

6. I don't get it. What's wrong with her?
They all give corny speeches on their local teams, schools, etc. So she has an accent - so what?

Edited on Sat Mar-21-09 09:23 PM by Jim Sagle
The only decent comment on that Youtube thread says it all:

Blueberree

She's an intellectual giant compared to Bush and Palin. do we need to point you to the youtubes of Bush or Palin speaking nonsense? Guess you racists don't like to bring up race when the less than articulate person is white.

11. Yep. Bush has created many new words. And Palin was a laughing stock a few months ago.
But race only mentioned if the fumble mouth is black.

Edited on Sat Mar-21-09 10:16 PM by Drunken Irishman
I've dogged Palin and Bush for years with what they've said.

So are you saying I can't pick on a person for speaking poorly if they're black?

Well fuck me, then. :eyes:

18. When these people are the face of the government, we should be embarrassed.
I'm sure Miss (Mrs?) Brown is a good person, but this is ridiculous!

If she were my congresswoman, I'd be embarrassed.

..... Inarticulate doesn't mean that someone is stupid, except in the eyes of the overly judgmental.

26. Yes, she has been there on some VERY important occasions.
Calling out the election fraud in 2000 & 2004.

I can overlook a little inarticulate rambling and nuttiness.

She has my respect.

10. Oh, la de da
As if there hasn't been a veritable parade of other Representatives making similarly specious speeches during the "say any fool thing you want for one minute" openings during congressional sessions. And the amateurish "editing" of the clip is designed to make it look like she said the same stupid thing several times.

Looks like some a real petty little clip put together by a Alabama fan. Wait; that's not right. I'd say it would be someone from Tennessee.

12. some other things Corrine Brown has said
Edited on Sat Mar-21-09 09:45 PM by bigtree
"The punishment should fit the crime and if a doctor or drug company does harm knowingly or negligently to a patient they should be compensated to make them whole."
-Corrine Brown

As a Member of the CBC, I will fight tooth and nail to increase funding for programs, such as Ryan White, that were flat funded in the President's budget.
-Corrine Brown

I come from a district where the veterans are not the richest in the country.
-Corrine Brown

I do not support a constitutional amendment to prohibit gay marriage.
-Corrine Brown

I just want someone to explain to the American public why investing in transportation in Iraq is so much more important than investing in passenger rail right here in the United States of America.
-Corrine Brown

I represent central Florida, which depends on tourists for its economic survival. We need people to be able to get to the State and enjoy it.
-Corrine Brown

I think everybody knows that on November 7th more people voted for Al Gore than George Bush, a fact that has been documented time and time again.
-Corrine Brown

If we are wondering why only 19 percent of the American people feel that the Congress is in tune with their priorities, the cuts in Amtrak is one blatant reason why.
-Corrine Brown

Is bankrupting this great country the top priority of this administration?
-Corrine Brown

Marriage has historically been in the domain of the States to regulate.
-Corrine Brown

Not only should we be giving Amtrak the money it needs to continue to provide services; we should be providing security money to upgrade their tracks and improve safety and security measures in the entire rail system.
-Corrine Brown

Once again, we see the Bush administration paying for its failed policies by cutting funds to vital public services and jeopardizing more American jobs.
-Corrine Brown

So here we are, just two months away from the election, with more and more examples that modern day Jim Crowe laws are alive and well in the state of Florida.
-Corrine Brown

Southern states in the confederacy were not ready to give up their fight to secede or give up their way of life, which was made possible in large part through the blood, sweat and tears of African slaves.
-Corrine Brown

States get to improve transportation infrastructure; that creates economic development, puts people back to work and, most important, enhances safety and improves local communities.
-Corrine Brown

The Emancipation Proclamation, signed by President Abraham Lincoln, was put into effect on January 1, 1863, but news of the Proclamation and enforcement did not reach Texas until after the end of the Civil War almost two years later.
-Corrine Brown

This administration is cutting the programs that our Nation and its citizens need most, while dissolving the safety nets created to protect the elderly and less fortunate in this wealthy Nation.
-Corrine Brown

Today right here in America we have 50 million people without health insurance.
-Corrine Brown

Transportation funding is a win-win for everyone involved.
-Corrine Brown

Undoubtedly, there are numerous problems with the immigration system here in The United States.
-Corrine Brown

The op is 'embarrassing'. (I said that)

23. You're right, I forced her to go in front of congress and embarrass herself like that.
Got it!

I guess it's only ok to be embarrassed by Republicans who can't speak worth a damn.

My bad. I find it embarrassing whenever a representative of our government sounds completely sloshed and makes a mockery out of our government -- Democrat or Republican.

25. She's a character, but you gotta love her COURAGE
Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 12:03 AM by 960
from wikipedia

"On the first day of early voting for the 2004 General Election, Brown, with several supporters, stood on the steps of the entrance of the Duval County Supervisor of Elections headquarters, an early voting site, and began passing out a "pseudo-ballot," directing people to vote for only Democratic candidates and Florida amendments that should pass. It was not until noon that Brown and her supporters moved to the mandatory fifty feet away from the entrance. Brown claimed her intention had been to increase awareness of early voting, and that she had not knowingly violated the fifty feet rule.<14>
I
n July 2004 Brown was censured by the House of Representatives after she referred to the disputed 2000 presidential election in Florida as a "coup d'état". This comment came during floor debate over HR-4818, which would have provided for international monitoring of the 2004 U.S. presidential election.<15>

Brown was one of the 31 representatives who voted against counting the electoral votes from Ohio in the United States presidential election, 2004.<16>

In 2006, she voted "no" on the Child Custody Protection Act, Public Expression of Religion Act, Electronic Surveillance Modernization Act, Military Commissions Act, and Private Property Rights Implementation Act of 2006. She voted "yes" on the SAFE Port Act.

On September 29, 2008, Brown voted for the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.<17>

28. Like I said to another poster, she might be a great woman.
But why must our politicians make fools of themselves? It's embarrassing. If she is smart, she should try and act it. We didn't elect them to go around Washington looking like clowns. We elected them to lead and t hat is showing such poor leadership.
