Thom Hartmann's first hour sponsor: Hummer (WTF?!?)
yesterday it was Cadillac.

Do Progressives have a responsibility to ever turn down a sponsor?

I guess Thom wont be speaking ill of gas guzzling SUV's or of GM at all today.

Isnt accepting of Hummer as a sponsor the same as saying "Thom Hartmann, bought and paid for by Hummer"?

I like Thom but this disappoints me.

Ok let's have it.

2. What's wrong with being sponsored by union-made American-made products?
;)

4. Thom doesn't censor criticisms, regardless of who sponsor's his show.
I don't care who is funding Progressive talk, as long as its on the air, and it doesn't influence the program.

5. What would you think if he was sponsored by Big Tobacco or Big Pharma?
I like to hear ads for socially progressive groups. I know that in today's world we have to get funding where we can, but this just seems a bit unsettling.

IF he aired ads from AIG, I bet this place would blow up.

Most of the ads from the local stream during commercial breaks are very progressive. Those that arent are at least non-offensive. I think that advocating for a line of vehicles whose MPG and price led to their ultimately being cancelled is just a tad funny. Gas chugging consumerism helped get us where we are today. Now if he were to say that he is just taking the sucker's money would be one thing, but I doubt he'd do that.

6. I agree that I wish it was all progressive or non-offensive ads,
but during the campaign, I heard McCain and other repubs ads on the air. I watch PBS and see they get some funding from big oil. I recognize the disconnect, but they have to go where the ad dollars are, or they won't be on the air.

7. So you think GM should just advertise on wingnut radio?
What would you be saying if GM refused to sponsor Progressive Talk but continued sponsoring Beck, Rush, Savage, etc?

I agree that it's stupid for GM to advertise Hummers during Prog Talk. You'd think they'd try to sell hybrids on Hartmann's show.

Just another example of mismanagement.

8. Ding! Trying to sell Hummers to Progressives= freaking brilliant
I had a problem with Hartmann taking Hummer money, but your point makes the best sense and best illustrates what the hell is wrong with GM. Make bad decisions= go bankrupt.

9. I wonder if free Hartmann podcasts will continue?
Things were better when most lib talkers were under Air America---one subscription fee.
