FREE-FOR-ALL: How should Wall Street be reported?
The big dust-up this week seems to be that CNBC is a mess because of people like Rick Santelli (and Jim Cramer).

Dr. Colbert's Jewish Friend (Jon Stewart) had Cramer on and did what the mass media has been unable to do: insist he do a better job.

So, what exactly should the networks, talking heads, newspapers (they still have those, don't they?) and intertubes be doing differently?

1. Rick Santelli is shameless. He's an living tribute to the ARROGANCE and GREED
of those who smooze on Wall Street.

I hope Stewart does something on his latest "hissy fit" tonight on The Daily Show.

2. Facts
As far as the market goes, they should report the numbers, who bought, who sold and when companies merge or purchase other companies.

The speculative commentary is what makes for bad reporting. CNBC says what the corporations want.

3. Okay, that's good.
Cut the speculation and avoid becoming a shill for corporations.

Thank you.

5. Facts not speculation
I see no reason not to report job numbers, housing numbers, unemployment numbers and the quarter profits of companies, but avoid the editorializing.

I remember back in 2004 Neil Cavuto was doing his business show and started a segment with "Should the unthinkable happen and Kerry gets elected..."

That type of commentary is not helpful. It's opinion, not fact. Economics is not a hard science and should not be teated as such.
