I guess the economy can't be that bad if Olive Gardens are still being built and 'The Garden(that's what we call The OG around here) is providing jobs.

Olive Garden opens in Noblesville

New Tuscan Farmhouse-design restaurant is first in Hamilton County

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Olive Garden will open its newest Tuscan Farmhouse-design restaurant in Noblesville at 13285 Tegler Drive on Monday, March 23 at 4 p.m. This is the first Tuscan Farmhouse-design Olive Garden to open in Hamilton County.

About 165 jobs will be created with the opening of the 246-seat, 7,441-square-foot restaurant that is expected to contribute to the state’s restaurant industry growth. According to the National Restaurant Association’s 2009 Industry Forecast, restaurant sales in Indiana are expected to grow 2.2 percent this year.

“Noblesville’s steady business climate and growing population make it the perfect location for the newest member of Olive Garden’s family of local restaurants,” said Valerie Insignares, executive vice president of operations for Olive Garden.

8. I think that number is inflated.
That must include the labor to build it.

6. Enjoy the faux Italian while you can... it won't last long...
people aren't eating out...it's the first thing people cut out when unemployed - they consider it a luxury.

7. This seems wrong.
The article says 165 employees. That has to include the labor to build the damn thing, am I correct? I can't see a restaurant employing that many people. 15 in the kitchen, 20 waitstaff, 5-10 hostesses/managers, that is my best guess for a restaurant. 165 seems too high.

9. Do you have any idea of how much labor it takes to grow olives in Indiana?

10. Perhaps it includes a lot of part time jobs?
If they have people who only work Friday and Saturday nights, and people who work lunchtimes without evenings, the numbers could mount up. A precise report often say "full-time equivalent" jobs.
