The Vermont Legislature will pass Marriage Equality this session: Fat lot of good that will do
Our repuke governor, Jim Douglas will veto it. There is really strong support for marriage equality here among, religious groups, in the legal community and majority support for marriage equality, and Governor asshole will veto it.

This is so fucking frustrating. Idiot Vermonters keep voting Douglas in, and dems and progrssives keep shooting themselves in their collective foot. And if asshole runs again in 2010, he stands a very good chance of being re-elected.

1. Does your state constitution enable veto override?
When MA has a GOP governor, and he fails to go along and get along, that's what we do--we override his ass, we push his face in the mud, and we bellow "You are irrelevant, you toady tool!!"

It's why "Mitt the Shitt" Romney didn't run again. It wasn't that he wanted time to campaign (hell, he was never here anyway--he spent more time in NH at his vacation home than the governor of NH spent in his own state) it was because he knew that a tree stump could have defeated him, soundly. That is how bad he sucked!

2. Yes, it takes a 2/3 majority to override the veto
I don't think that'll happen.

3. I'd say work on those guys....work on getting the problem children out of the legislature.
In Blue Mass, the governor is like a toy, and the legislature is like a large, sharp-clawed cat. The cat almost never loses, except in the very few areas where the governor can exert executive authority...and when he does that, he pays!

This applies to Democratic as well as GOP governors. The legislature is a bit of a bully, but it's generally a liberal bully. If they could only tone down some of the corruption it would be wonderful body.
