Beck & Chucky Norris "We Surround You" Cells - Local news reports
Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 01:32 AM by RamboLiberal
South Jordan, Utah Kim Coleman believes this Friday the 13th is her lucky day.

That's because Coleman is gathering with more than 800 of her closest friends, including U.S. Congressman Jason Chaffetz, to watch media personality Glenn Beck address his faithful listeners for the national "We Surround Them" event.

Coleman organized her local event, vto be held at Noah's in South Jordan, through the social networking site www.meetup.com. It is just one of many groups of Beck fans hosting viewing parties across the nation.

Though the event takes place at 3 p.m., the turnout could still exceed Noah's capacity. Many group members plan to take off work early or bring their entire family.

Coleman said she was not surprised by the overwhelming response. Beck has a huge fan base in Utah, and Coleman said many people she knows share his feelings of frustration with country's direction.

The Congressman traitor Jason Chaffetz.

ASHEVILLE – Marlene Drake is frustrated and angry at the direction the country is going.

“I feel the government has let us all down by trying to control our lives in every way,” said Drake, of Fairview. “I think it's time for people to stand up for their rights.”

Drake attended a local gathering Friday to watch a Fox News broadcast hosted by nationally syndicated radio talk show host Glenn Beck. About 275 packed into a conference room at the Holiday Inn on Smoky Park Highway to watch Beck on a projection television.

The Asheville watching party was one of many nationwide who watched Beck lay out the nine principles and 12 values of his “We Surround Them” movement.

Amarillo, TX Borders, banks and bailouts top the list of reasons why hundreds of local people are standing up to Washington while trying to encourage their fellow Americans.

Glenn Beck wants his supporters to know they are not alone in their conservative values, which is why thousands around the world, including hundreds here in Amarillo, gathered to watch his show Friday.

More than two hundred strong in Amarillo, they have a stern message for Washington: "we're fed up, you listen to us because you work for us, or we're gonna get rid of you," says Jan Rollins, a supporter.

And a hopeful one to other Americans: "there are a lot of conservatives that don't stand up for themselves so I hope this will bind us together and encourage one another," says Savanah Smith, another supporter.

San Diego, CA Local conservatives turned out at Oggi's in Carmel Mountain Ranch Friday, as part of a new Glenn Beck meet-up group.

760 KFMB was there to host the first of a series of "We Surround Them" events.

Beck's fox news broadcast aired live during the event.

Members say "We Surround Them" is designed to unite conservatives who feel disillusioned with the government.

"Woken up us conservative-voiced people who have been quiet, and we've been overtaken, and we all feel very lost and our government is out of control and we're all gathering today so that we can unite," said Group Organizer Stephanie Jahn.

Rexburg, Idaho Hundreds of people showed up at a local movie theater Friday to show their support for a national broadcast presented on Fox News by Glenn Beck.

Close to 500 people arrived at The Rex Theater to watch a special edition of the Glenn Beck show called "We Surround Them".

Through the program Beck reached out to Americans who have become so disenchanted with politics and government that they have stopped participating completely.

A week ago a former campaign manager in Rexburg realized hundreds of people in the community wanted to watch Beck's special program. He contacted the Rex theatre to see if they could help. The theater offered the showing free of charge to the public.

All age groups poured into the theater Friday afternoon. The crowds filled four theaters.

West Melbourne, Florida Inside the restaurant and outside in the parking lot, people rallied at the Mighty Mushroom restaurant to watch talk-show host Glenn Beck unveil a plan to "renew America and recommit to America's values," the popular talk show host said.

Beck talked about the plan, based on nine principles and 12 values of the "We Surround Them" theme, during his Friday show on Fox News.

Hundreds of Brevard County residents gathered in the West Melbourne spot, in addition to three other locations in the county to hear Beck.

"We want to get out that we are not sitting back and doing nothing. We may be a minority, but that doesn't mean we have to be silent. We still have a voice," said Republican Barbara Chandler, 59, of Palm Bay, who attended the viewing with some members of her family.

Chandler said she believes personal freedoms are under threat, and that the government is "on the wrong path" and heading toward socialism.

Linden, Utah LINDON -- From a party palace in Lindon, to a pizza parlor in Alpine, to gatherings at private residences across Utah County and the nation, fans of conservative political commentator and TV host Glenn Beck assembled for a town hall meeting.

Under the moniker "We Surround Them," Beck gathered the faithful on a national TV broadcast on the Fox News Channel that was a political/religious presentation, with a hint of multilevel marketing flavor thrown in for good measure.

"This is your country. You're still in control, but it seems that no one gets it," he said. "The real power to change America's course still resides with you. You are the secret. You are the answer."

Beck became teary-eyed in parts of the airing, and the emotion appeared to be genuine.

"I'm turning into a frickin' televangelist," he said jokingly at one point in the broadcast.

3. These are news reports mainly from TV stations
so the local yokels are covering the story. Reminds me of the stupid "Limbaugh lunches" I heard about back in the 90's when Limpballs first came out. Stories where people gathered at lunch at local restuarants & bars to listen to Limpballs.

Not everyone follows blogs. Beck goes for those that don't. And the local news covers it.

12. I do wonder if Limpballs, Beck, Mannity, Chucky Norris and the ilk
aren't whipping up the next Tim McVeigh. I always regret the Clinton didn't take it to them harder back in the 90's when he had the bully pulpit after Oklahoma City. Perhaps that would've been the time to reinstute the Fairness Doctrine. I still consider that Limbaugh, Liddy, etc. have the blood of the victims of Oklahoma City on their grubby hands.

The April 19, 1995, bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building drastically brought to consciousness the threat of hate and violence in the U.S. After the bombing, Pres. Clinton castigated the media's "loud and angry voices" for "spreading hate and leaving the impression by their very words that violence is acceptable." In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, Clinton urged radio talk show hosts and their callers to reject on-air statements "fostering hate and division and encouraging violence."

Conservative radio talk show hosts objected strenuously and vociferously against Clinton's implication that such programs had anything to do with the bombing. Rush Limbaugh, whose talk show is carried by more than 600 stations, maintained that the President was playing the "blame game" and that such a suggestion is "irresponsible and vacuous to ... suggest that this 200-plus-year-old debate caused the explosion of a building in Oklahoma City." Chuck Harder, a talk show host on The People's Radio Network in White Springs, Fla., said, "the irresponsible way the national media and the President are casting blame for the tragedy is breathtaking.... This drumbeat of blame has been increased by Clinton's accusations that talk radio somehow triggered the awful events in Oklahoma."

Clinton consistently refused to defend the right to air "some of the things some of these more extreme talk show hosts have said." Specifically, he objected to a number of G. Gordon Liddy's remarks. Liddy, who broadcasts over WJFK-FM in Fairfax, Va., admitted he used handmade drawings of the President and his wife for target practice and discussed shooting Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms in the head and groin "in legally justified self-defense." By implication, if agents of the ATF or other Federal officers were to go to private homes or compounds as they did to the Branch Davidians, who considered AFT actions to be illegal, shooting and killing agents in self-defense would be justified.

Liddy told the media that he did not believe his controversial comments had fueled the "lunatic fringe." However, station owners and managers, who thought he had, imposed their own kind of censorship. A week after the Oklahoma City bombing, the Oklahoma State Senate voted 39-0 to adopt a resolution "urging sponsors of the G. Gordon Liddy show and other radio talk shows encouraging violence against public officials, law officers, or the private citizenry to withdraw financial sponsorship."

On April 25, Bill McNulty, general manager of KCKC-AM in San Bernardino, Calif., stopped airing the show because "the opinion and views of Liddy have the potential to foster and encourage extremist action." (Emphasis added.) Nevertheless, Liddy's Oklahoma City affiliate WKY-AM decided to keep him on the air after a call-in vote demonstrated strong listener support. Liberal talk show host Diane Rehm, whose nationally syndicated morning program originates over WAMU-FM in Washington, argues that "the notion that words don't have power is crazy. If you are G. Gordon Liddy and you are talking about ... killing ATF agents in self-defense, who knows whether or not someone on the extreme, extreme, extreme, isn't going to use that as a reason to go out and kill public officials?"

their heart of heart this is the right direction for the nation. So, their claims amount to projection. Even a lot of their faithful flock lost bigtime under their offering as President. Most will take their chances with the new President and give him time to deliver the goods. Some say the stimulus is not enough but remeber this is a President who makes a pair of shoe last long time. The package will probably have long last positive ripple effects also.

16. Beck has dubbed this the 9.12 project
Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 01:36 AM by RamboLiberal
Geez.

-----

Dubbing his vision "The 9.12 Project" (The912project.com), Beck asked those in attendance to get involved, meet with their neighbors, and formulate some ideas and potential solutions to the economic crisis and other challenges the country is currently facing. He couched those around nine principles, including a positive outlook on America, belief in God and the sacred nature of the family, and 12 corresponding values.

Beck, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, set a date of Sept. 12, 2009, to follow up on his own and the nation's progress toward empowering the American people.

Glenn Beck has a new website called The 912 Project (The912Project.com). Fans reaction to the The912Project.com has been so good that the site is down.

http://news.lalate.com/2009/03/13/the-912-project-the912projectcom-glenn-beck/

The hottest new host on Fox News this year Glenn Beck has launched The 912 Project, a site dedicated to sharing core principles and values that Americans are said to live by.

The site, which is currently offline as we write this post, defines essential American qualities such as believing in god, being opposed to income tax, being pro marriage (as long as your straight) and many other gems.

It’s more of the same that we’ve seen from the hard right recently, this whole socialism is bad, our money is being stolen for us, Barack is a Communist etc etc. While some of those points might be true, what they continue to overlook is that Bush created the mess the country is in today, and Bush was the one that run up the foreign debt and started the bailouts. But no, it’s only bad now a new, black guy takes over the mess.

In the show launching the The 912 Project, Beck interviewed Chuck Norris, who earlier this week said that thousands of militia were preparing for a military takeover of the United States. If that doesn’t say batshit crazy, I’m not sure what else can.

28. Boone County Repuke organized a party
Now Boone County is actually sponsoring an airing of a Beck-hosted show.

Commissioner Cathy Flaig has organized a viewing party of Beck's show tomorrow at 5 PM at the Briarwood Banquet Center in Hebron. The show is titled 'We Surround Them' and is scheduled to air on the discredited Fox News Channel. Reportedly, 'We Surround Them' is nothing but a recycled right-wing rant taking the form of a TV special.

Nice to know Boone County has dethroned Campbell County as northern Kentucky's leader in right-wing machine politics. (Exurbs will do that.) An activist far-right government has been a constant in Boone County since the late '90s when it tried to scuttle Halloween trick-or-treating because county officials felt it was un-Christian.

Once again, they've gone much too far.

Cathy Flaig should resign immediately for her support of a scumbag like Glenn Beck who threatened to assassinate an accomplished filmmaker.(Michael Moore).

30. Of Course They Are...This Was To Be Expected
The rushpublicans are still in massive denial. You still hear them screetch that it wasn't "conservatives" who've lost the last two elections. Beck and the other hate spewers are preying on these people for ratings and ego...relishing the role of being the "underdog" and playing victim. All the losing has "liberated" these people into a full blown alienation that is fertile ground for GOOP operatives...or those remaining...to exploit.

In some ways, these "protests" remind me of the vigils we held for Cindy Sheehan in 2005...a dark point in Democratic party history. Many of us gathered around the country...a hundred here and a hundred there...called together by the blogs and finding common cause. But unlike the netroots that would emerge in the years to come to channel many of our frustrations and energies that helped drive the rushpublicans out of all levers of real power, the GOOPers are relying on old and dying mediums that are contracting their "base" rather than expanding it.
