or less than 2% of the entire spending bill

The FDA allows 2% of insect filth in each can of apricots

Jon Stewart explains it all here:

2. And 40% of those earmarks are from Repukes who voted against the bill they put their earmarks into.

5. If your state didn't get its tax money back as federal funding there'd be carping too.
I want a soybean technology center, I just don't want it in a border state. It is obvious to me all that money belongs in Wisconsin.

I want education on dairy farming, I just don't want it in Iowa. It is REALLY obvious to me that all that money belongs in Wisconsin.

I want volcano monitoring, I just don't want it in Wyoming. It is REALLY obvious to me that all that money belongs in Wisconsin.

etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

Thank-you for bringing money back to Wisconsin Herb. Anyone looking to pick a fight over his earmarking of "Mad-deer" (chronic wasting disease) in Wisconsin? I've got wiggle room on that one. Frankly, I think more hunter-tourists from Chicagos should be eating Wisconsin raised prions, why worry about farm raised venison being infected with a deer disease? Only rich people eat that stuff in fancy urban restaurants.

7. Imagine if all that money was just left up to the Governors to spend..
Earmarks are not necessarily a bad thing... It allows for our Representatives to actually represent us and specify how our state will spend certain funds. If left up totally to the Governors they will support their favorite projects and leave their political opponents side lacking..

9. I thought that during the campaign I was told that earmarks would
go away.

But OTOH, I'm glad about the fund to remove tattoos. I can maybe get mine off, and start over on a clean skin.

16. Only if you were a gang member.
I believe that's where the tattoo removal fund is aimed at. To get rid of their gang markings so they're better able to find gainful employment.

10. Adding up to 7.7 billion!!! Why is virtually no one talking about how the last
republican budget had 29 billion in earmarks, which was down from their peak in 2005 of 54 billion?? Isn't perspective important?

12. Obama will end this practice
Remember how he went after p*lin and her fake "reform" talk?

"She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."
