17. Is that the one where they toss the chickens in from the wings?
I've seen a couple of his performances of 'King Tut' but the one where they threw in the live chickens just slayed me ... I couldn't get my breath I was laughing so hard.

18. I'm not sure!
But I think they had Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin carrying fake pyramids (it's been a while) and he was wearing his typical white suit and a King Tut-styled headress.

And the backup group was called the Tut Uncommons.

I'm laughing just thinking about the live chickens, though.

I don't know if you can You Tube it, but I also remember a bit John Belushi did called "Wilderness Comedian" where he told a bunch of really bad jokes to a bunch of fake animals clipped to a log. I laughed at that for a good five years.

27. As I recall, he did it on SNL, at the Hollywood Bowl, and on the Tonight Show with Johnny ...
... and the one on the Tonight Show was the one where they tossed in the live chickens from the wings. The SNL version was a total 'production number' with sax soloist and costumes and everything. The Tonight Show was like "half a production number" ... in a fractured sense. For some reason, THAT one was just another order of magnitude of 'funny' for me. I don't whether he was guest hosting that night or not ... or whether it was some number of years after the 1978-79 debut of that bit ... but it just hit me as the funniest by far.

Steve Martin has been a favorite of mine for decades ... not only for comedy, but his bluegrass banjo talent as well.

when he was on "Rock Concert" - remember that? Before he hosted SNL.

The clip I'm thinking of was at a large venue, but it had SNL people in it.

26. Best sketch comedy show (if you could even call it that) ever.
Just about everyone involved in that show has gone on to do some great stuff. Bob and David, of course (if you haven't seen Run Ronny Run, I'd highly recommend it). And others like Brian Posehn and Patton Oswalt have done some incredible stand-up since then. Damn shame it didn't last longer.

39. I saw this routine on the telly in England in 1973.
We were American tourists visiting with some young English women, who suddenly dragged us over to the tv to watch Monty Python.

"What is a Monty Python?" I asked.

First Python show I ever saw, and it had this on it. We were crying, too.

I told people back in the States about Python and this routine for several years before PBS first brought the shows over.
