Keep talking Boehner (wants G.M. to fail)
Maybe he will be able to maintain that tan on his face permantely. Boehner said he does not support G.M. here in Ohio. I hope Ohioans remember this come re-election time! Since their will tons more of unemployed people.

From the look of his tan he doesn't spend much time working in Ohio these days.

Hopefully it will be permanant at some point.

1. I have two wonders about boner
I wonder if he'll ever sober up and I wonder what he'll think of himself if he does. Other than than he's nothing but trash.

I've been sober long enough to now accept that I made most of my lifes mistakes while intoxicated. I just hope boner is lucky enough to see the day I'm having today.

9. His Sleaze Is Genetic
The dude is so plastic and scripted it gives one the creeps. He's the personaification of a used car dealer and demonstrateds it every time he opens his tobacco laden mouth.

It seems that most rushpublican politicians have to have a narcassitic trait...believe that they know all and that everyone else is out to get them. His only concern is what his pals and benefactors think of him, he's too tunnelvisioned to see beyond. When you live a lie, the only thing that lets you sleep at night is coming up with a new lie.

BTW...I think it'd be a great poll to see who DU thinks has the biggest bag on. I vote for Kit Bond. He looks like he just rolled out of an extended liquid lunch.

Cheers...

:hi:

5. Interesting
What are you trying to say? Should we be supporting GM with taxpayer money as a failing corporation to save jobs?

Their sales are way down. In ratings, the cars and trucks they produce aren't getting high grades. In this country, they are trying to sell to a saturated market. Their production capability way exceeds demand. What is being proposed is a never ending money pit generated by fear. Where or when does it end? Chrysler is worse off. Ford however, seems to be in a better condition. Industry wide sales are down and hard times are affecting all of the Auto Companies producing vehicles in this country.

My opinion is government shouldn't be giving taxpayer money to failing banks, mega insurance companies or corporations. If they can't cut it, let them go. Yes, there will be some very hard times. Hyper-inflation caused by bankrupting this country would be worse.

My comments above don't include the actions of the FDIC where they step in on insolvent banks and take them over and/or sell their assets. At present the money involved in those transactions is provided by fees paid by the banks. It would appear the biggest losers in those actions are the bank investors.

8. The American Taxpayer
Edited on Tue Mar-10-09 08:25 AM by samplegirl
is ultimately the funding source for this bailout. The laid-off GM employee is helping to bail out a company that is still employing people in other countries, while people on unemployment compensation are wondering if they will lose their homes.

Isn't there something wrong with this picture? Why is GM not being mandated to move their foreign operations to the U.S. to keep folks here working? I am sure that the reason is wages. This is where the UAW and its members must be willing to compromise.

A lower-paying job is better than no job at all. Less benefits are better than no benefits at all.

Or is it politics? How does it benefit the U.S. to provide jobs for those in other countries?

We are being encouraged to buy American so that we can help the American economy. Doesn't that mean that we shouldn't buy a Chevy Cruze since it is being made in China and Russia?

Just a little food for thought. This is the way the GOP thinks in Ohio! Its senseless.

11. You don't understand the cost of exporting cars to China do you?
Should GM export cars to Europe instead of building them there? Or England? Or to Holden in Australia (we get the G8 from there at $30,000+). Or from Brazil. Every country has different standards. I guess you have the answer, huh?

10. You are clueless
As a UAW member, you take down GM, you take down the supply chain to the rest of the auto makers, and to satisfy your need to make the Foreign brands kings you will impoverish millions. Their products are on a par with the Foreign transplants, and your response is nothing more than a regurgitated GOP talking point.

Go to hell.

15. I Understand Your Anger
I would fight tooth and nail to maintain my quality of life.

I don't care what you say, I don't want my tax money used to create a welfare system for corporations. I don't care if its a bank, insurance company or other corporation. That's not how I want our government to respond.

FYI, seldom are big three autos and trucks rated as being as high in quality as the imports, only once in a while does one make it in the top 5 of a given catogory. Quit trying to pass off UAW talking points on me. By the way, I buy only Ford or GM products.

14. I feel bad for Ohio
I'm in PA and I think the asshole bug that our illustrious asshole Santorum had was passed to Ohio. Keep talking Boner, Ohio finally woke up last election. Has he done anything for Ohio, the lost jobs, etc. Not sure how he could with all the time he spends on tv and in the tanning booth.

Also, I work in the auto industry. It is being devastated not as much by bad management, which of course there is plenty, or unions, but by the lack of car sales across the board, foreign included. If people can't see that, your just plain stoopid. Let me tell you, the suppliers are close to failing. when this happens, watch out. Trust me. It will be bad. Visteon is scheduled to miss a payment today, they will be forced out, I am sure of it. Most people don't know who the suppliers are. Auto companies only "assemble" the cars. The do not make the parts, suppliers do, of which Visteon is one, a big one, and it is going down. They are not located in just Michigan either, they are in many states.
CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, you might just get it.

It is a game now. Whichever countries support their auto industries, will be the ones making all the cars when things turn around. Toyota, the largest car company in the world, and one of the most profitable, has just ask their gov for a bailout. Why do you think that is??

Some people on this board should just shut up when they don't understand what they are talking about.
