New RW meme: Al Gore refuses to debate climate change!
Edited on Tue Mar-10-09 06:28 AM by bbernardini
I first noticed this in the comments section on the website of my local paper this morning. I had never heard of this particular one before, so I looked it up. It seems as though the folks at the Heartland Institute (a known front for the oil industry) have extended an invitation to Al Gore to have a climate change debate, and he hasn't responded. So now he "refuses" to debate. Anybody heard more about this one?

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't that seem like the equivalent of Al Franken debating Bill O'Reilly? You're never going to convince the Heartland folks they're wrong, and they're just going to look like idiots to everybody but their most rabid followers.

On edit: Newsmax is pushing this, of course.

1. Eagles Don't Fly With Chickens
We've just ordered tickets to see President Gore in a few weeks. I'm sure that a majority who will be attending share my beliefs and he should pack the house. Now, I wouldn't mind a denier there...if only to laugh at and ridicule.

Ain't it somethin'...the other day, I heard a rushpublican mouthpiece bitching how President Obama is spending more time fighting with Rushbo (he has??) than dealing with the economy...and then these oxygen thieves pull this crap?

The saving grace is the adults are back in charge...8 years of defying science is over. Let them deny...they look more and more like flat-earthers every time they try to "legitimize" their lies.

4.  Math is really a space goat....
We need to debate the leaders in Math to prove that Math is just a representation of a giant space goat that god created 3400 years ago.

6. There's nothing to debate.

This moronic "there are 2 equally legitimate sides to every issue" nonsense is destroying us.

9. Apologies to Human League:
Keep feeling DESPERATION
Passion burning
Hate so strong
Keep feeling desperation
NEVER Looking learning
OR Moving on

(for those not schooled in 80s' pop, those are altered lyrics from the Human League song "Fascination")

The Repugs are absolutely desperate. They're tossing whatever they can find up against the wall, but it's splattering back in their faces.

10. One of the global warming deniers in the comments section always fails to mention his employer...
Lyondell Chemical, identified as the 53rd largest corporate producer of air pollution in the US. Funny how denying man-made causes comes so easy when your job depends on it.

The article and comments are here, by the way:

12. Hmmm. Fox rules? 4 deniers against Gore alone?
Why are these pipsqueaks so determined to embarrass themselves? It's just the political version of calling Gore a chicken. Don't do it, McFly!
