Famed pastor predicts imminent catastrophe
from World Net Daily:

A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent "earth-shattering calamity" centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.

David Wilkerson, author of "The Cross and the Switchblade," a book about his ministry to troubled New York street kids that was later made into a movie starring Pat Boone, tells readers of his blog this weekend that he is "compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message" about his prediction.

"An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen," he writes. "It is going to be so frightening, we are all going to tremble – even the godliest among us."

Wilkerson's vision is of fires raging through New York City.

"It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago," he explains. "There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

Damn! And I was just going to start renovating the bathroom...

Anyone have Pat Robertson's number handy? I'd like to get a second opinion.

14. We have a whole lot of any group you want!
Want to blame the godless? We have them!
Want to blame immigrants? We have them!
Want to blame thieving rich peple? We have them!
Want to blame poor people? We have them!

What I don't get is why the presence of so many "good" people, (as defined by the person making these awful predictions) doesn't save NYC. We have plenty of them too.

8. LOL! I'd use Bat Man as my go-to rescue guy, but with gas going
thru the roof, you know how much it takes to fill up the Batmobile.

12. This is what these types of people long for. They want this to happen.
This person is getting old and as a supposed Christian has a desire for so-called Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ coming with the sound of trumpets from the sky. He has an obvious urning to witness this prophetic interpretation of Biblical ideology before he dies. The economic crisis created by the Bush crime family has set up this whole mindset. I hear it all the time.
It's BS of course but it feeds the kind of messages that Rush Limbaugh sells when he says he wants Obama to fail.
These kinds of people are actually dangerous and can foment this belief and fear to the point of instigation.

16. You know who I really admire
The selfless people who set up missions/foundations/schools/etc. to help out the less fortunate among us and then don't claim that God speaks to them. Those are great people.

I just read of one religious group that has been broadcasting that the world will end in 2011...another says 2012...if we don't get hit by an asteroid first. Damn...I wish someone would be more specific, I've got things to do and Armegeddon would sure mess up TV programming that week.
