Eventually Obama is going to have to ignore Republicans and do what is needed...
Obama's attempt to bring Repubs and Independents to the table to hammer out bipartisan solutions to our most pressing problems IS NOT WORKING.

Reality is: Repubs will not work in a bipartisan manner for the benefit of the nation. Repubs will place party above country and will do everything possible to see that Obama 'fails.'

The stakes are too high to let Repubs 'water down' needed Government Action to rescue the Economy and our jobs.

Continue taking the issues to the people and further isolate the Tom Delay/Limbaugh/Boehner wing of the Repub Party.

Otherwise, I fear that Obama's efforts will earn public admiration but fail to deliver the needed punch that only the Government can provide right now.

1. Hopefully sooner than later
If he gives them enough rope--yes, they will eventually hang themselves. However, they will hogtie his agenda before the latter ever happens.

3. Exactly ... time is the one commodity which we do not have in abundance....
The further the escalator moves down with every passing minute, the further we will have to climb back up to reach stability.

We cannot wait for Repubs to hang themselves with all the rope Obama is giving them ....

2. He pretty much already has
all these compromises in the bills are to make them easier to pick off two of three senators on the other side who really don't belong to that party anymore and about five in our party who are clones of those three they just ran as democrats.

9. I think we, the Democrats, have to do a lot of work fighting back against Repukes....
Rather than hope he fights the battle alone, we need to start bombarding the corporate media with e-mails, letters and phone calls, letting them know what we think, and we need to post all over the net that the Repukes spent 30 years destroying this country, and we're now living the aftermath of their Republican Revolution. Instead of getting disheartened, I decided to fight the Repugnicans. They've done enough damage to our country already. We must shut the Fs up.

4. He just got an $800 billion dollar stimulus
That was 95% what he wanted.

I haven't seen him take one step he didn't want to take and I don't expect to see it either.

5. The Repub suggested inclusions in the Stimulus Bill did not generate one Repub vote in the House...
I don't have any doubts about Obama's intelligence.

I am merely pointing out that Obama is going to have to speed up the natural result --which is to move beyond the wasted time trying to negotiate with Repubs to reach a bipartisan solution, because Repubs have no intention whatsoever of negotiating in good faith.

7. Most didn't remain
Do you realize that? The ones that did were fine. They aren't even worth talking about, certainly not worth hashing over. He invites them to the table so the country will see him keeping his commitment to listen to everybody. Doesn't mean he's going to do anything that will hurt the people. I can't think of anything in the stimulus that could be classified as actually harmful.
