Poll question: Your health care coverage status:

I have employer-provided coverage that initially was more than acceptable, but squeezing and penny-pinching has made it much less so. I still give the provider (which I won't name, except to say it's a five-letter word that begins and ends with "A") an "OK/so-so" rating, but that's subject to change.......

4. I buy my own but because of a recent illness and...
resulting financial problems I have reduced my pretty good ($8000.00 per year) to a barely OK ($4000.00). I am hoping I can hang on to that.

11. I get by. I'm single and don't have too many health issues.
I'm more worried about uninsured kids, and we've already made some good progress there.

Here's hoping for improvements for all.

8. I live in Canada, but have supplementary insurance
through my employer (usually shared expense). It covers prescription drugs, dental care, vision care (a drop in the bucket), extended health care. Health care here may be universal but it is not comprehensive.

I am adjunct faculty. I get can reimbursed up to $600 a year for purchasing my own insurance privately if I submit a statement to HR. The cheapest I've ever found was around $1200 a year (Blue Thingy), but it I haven't gone for it. I go to county and pay up full price if I have an emergency. I try to be careful.

19. I'm lucky
my lady has me on her policy through her union employment, and they just granted coverage to "significant other". I lost my full-time job and benefits late last year, and was covered just long enough to keep pre-existing conditions covered.

Here's hoping for good coverage for all of you out there.

20. I have VERY limited coverage
from my school, which it requires students to purchase with tuition if they do not have outside coverage (and must show a card at registration).

It's catastrophy only and is very limited since it only cost $37 for the semester.

Not in the retiree plan provider network. My husband, being over 65 and on Medicare, gets to keep seeing him.

23. The word "pleased" might be a stretch.
Compared to what.. ? I said "pleased" but there was the time they sent me a $1600 bill for an ordinary mammogram.. And their confusing bills that could be double-bills or triple, I have no idea since they don't provide enough information on them. In general I think they are crooked as heck..but it's decent insurance. At least as long as I don't really need it.

25. Hubby and I had insurance through his
work but he lost his job a few months ago and we couldn't afford COBRA. Now he has a temporary 90-day job but with no insurance and I still haven't found anything out here in rural outback USA. So hopefully neither one of us will have a major illness or get in an accident or something prior to our finding something more permanent with insurance. We're screwed financially for life if that happens now.

27. We have coverage which ends at the end of April
Dh's last day at work is tomorrow due to being laid off.

We're going to use medical coverage through his alma mater as a temporary solution, hoping he can find permanent work before it ends. It's far less expensive than COBRA and we can keep our doctors of choice.
