Who pulls Limbaugh's strings?
Is this Limbaugh fight the external manifestation of a power fight in the Republican Party and, if so, what are the sides and what are the wedge issues?

5. Rove is clearly higher in the food chain....
But I'm remembering times when Limbaugh would rail against "Country Club" Republicans...

I'm also old enough to remember when "Moderate Republicans" were the biggest faction of the Republican party. This UberFascist Wing Nut shit really got traction with Gingrich in '94.

Is it possible that the Far Right is slipping from power in the Republican Party?

2. The Republican slime network
It includes Karl Rove, Ed Rollins, Mary Matalin, Barbara Comstock....

Those are just a few of the notable lawyers and political operatives working behind the scenes and sometimes on TV.

9. Koch Industries. Largest privately owned corp. in this nation.

The Koch brothers also operate the Koch Family Foundations, a major source of funding for conservative and libertarian political causes in the United States, including think tanks such as the Cato Institute. (Their father helped found the John Birch Society, though neither brother is a member or supporter of the organization.) David's political activism also includes running as the vice presidential nominee of the United States Libertarian Party in 1980, when he and running mate Ed Clark finished fourth with 921,299 votes.

Koch also supports Americans for Prosperity, formed as a successor to Citizens for a Sound Economy. Rich Fink, a Koch executive vice president, is a member of the board of directors of Americans for Prosperity. Previously he served as president of Citizens for a Sound Economy.

6. The best way to try to understand it is: Limbaugh is the Leader of
the Conservative Movement. (Conservatism is more important to them
than Republicanism).

As Leader of the Movement, Rush can let it it all hang out and very
honestly explains their beliefs.

For many Republican Politicians, he can make them cringe because
Rush has appeal to a niche audience(many watch and listen but do
not necessarily agree).

A Politician cannot come across as Conservative as Rush, and hope
to win an election. Conservative Politicians have learned to talk
a good game.

There is more a style difference in Steele and Rush. Steele has
to do politics.

There are really no wedge differences. Except for a very few most
Moderate Republicans have been pushed out of the party. (Capital Hill)

11. As far as pulling strings ...
I often think many roads, and strings, lead to and from the Council for National Policy, the secretive organization which is allowed IRS tax benefits for both operations and contributions

re Scaife, he is a Trustee at the Heritage Foundation http://www.heritage.org/About/Departments/trustees.cfm , a questionable 'charitable/educational' tax-exempt organization, which awarded Rush Limbaugh its highest honor, the Clare Boothe Luce Award. His name is listed in the Helms article.

Search the http://www.Heritage.org site for "rush limbaugh" to find other articles,

i.e. Rebecca Hagelin ... is the architect of Heritage's 2008 national radio campaign with Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham and the 2009 partnership with Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.
