100K women die by fire in India PER YEAR!

No link. Just heard on the "the world", public radio program. My gawd!

Women in india die due to fire related 'accidents' at a rate three times higher than men.

I did find that 2.5 million people died in India in 2000, but could not find causes broken down in this report

Only about 4,000 people die in fires in the US every year. I did find that of 43,000 deaths by car accident in the US, 30,000 of them are male.
