This Sunday's Meet the Press "roundtable discussion" was a joke
Harold Ford did a horrible job framing the issues. He basically pinned the outcome of the economic meltdown on Barack Obama if everything doesn't come out smelling like roses in 2010. The republicans dominated the discussion and kept the focus on the issue of spending rather than stimulus. Ford allowed David Gregory and the Republicans to designate the Dow as the metric for success of the economy. Truly, the "interests" of Washington are trying to gun down Obama's plans for taking this country into a bright 21st century.

And the panel will be presented as "fair & balanced"
because they had a DINO in Ford... just like how they used to use Lieberman on these sorts of things.

1. I can't watch that show anymore
Plus, wasn't Joey Scar on the panel this morning? So somehow, Harold Ford is supposed to be a balance to Joe fucking Scarborough? What a joke. Yeah, This Week with Karl Rove was horrible too.

3. It was.
The one bright spot of the whole thing was when that Murphy guy admitted that Anal Cyst being the de facto head of the GOP was not going to help them break out of being a regional party of white people.

6. Yea, Murphy's strategy is to keep referring to France.
Apparently the GOP talking heads think America's don't like France. That is their "strategy" at this point.

5. Well, one reason is that no one knows anything about the situation
No one has a clue about how to phrase the issues or how to solve them, but they have to have something to bloviate about so they can sound like they have an inkling. How can someone frame an issue they can't grasp. These times may have historical precedents in some areas, but nothing to measure anything by in others, like the very real climate change problem.

They're grasping at explanations that they feel they can talk about without worrying too much about how they'll sound. Citing the ups and downs of the Dow as some wise indicator or the economy is an easy out.

8. I do believe many will blame the WH if our country does not
show positive signs of recovery by the 2010 election. I have not seen the show yet, but Ford seems to be on target with that comment. It is difficult to hear that but there is truth in that.

9. ... and you're surprised? Since before the Reagan era the roundtable's been Sunday morning clowning.
If you really want to do something, write to their sponsors. Copy NBC News's DC bureau. It just might help to hasten the elimination of the utterly useless David Gregory.

16. Agreed, Dems need to say the words, "Republican Economic Policy Has Failed!"
Just say it

Then, say it again.

Republicans do not understand economics, we can all see that by the way their policies have failed.

Every Dem on every talk show should say that over and over and over again until the entire world understands the truth in it.

It makes me wonder if they too are gunning for Obama to fail.

17. The roundtable turned completely into a Republican self-help group
What should Republicans do? How can Republicans get their message out better? How can Republicans revitalize themselves? I am so sick of the emphasis on the naval gazing of the formerly relevant party that is deservedly exiled to the hinterlands of the American political scene due to their own hubris, incompetence and insincerity.

I have to say, David Gregory has given me an appreciation of Tim Russert that I never had while he (Russert) was alive. Gregory is a total lightweight and I hope they take this gig away from him soon.

18. It wasn't just that Ford was awful
It's that it turned into what amounts to a cable TV show: Ford yapping, Scarborough interrupting, Ford trying to talk again, Scarborough interrupting again, trying to pretend Congress worked SO WELL when he was in it.

One thing I have liked about MTP, even when they have slanted panels, is that I don't have to contend with the constant interruptions. I LIKE that people have the opportunity to finish their sentences. The show today was abominable.

20. I am so sick of Scarborough's misty-eyed reminiscing about his Congressional years
Remember Reagan? Remember Newt? Remember those great trickle down economic policies?

And it's not like he isn't shoveling the same shit every single weekday am, so now they have to pollute MTP with him too?

Why'd you get out, you nicompoop, if you loved it so much and were so effective?
