why does the "journals" server go down so often?

Like now, for instance. Just wondering.

1. Believe it or not, DU is down for me right now.

I'm on the upload link just to see if anyone else is having trouble. The upload links works even when the web link doesn't. That's the only reason I am (or can be) here right now.

The Journals are working for me though.

3. If it's at regular times, it may be some sort of automated

program on the server. I know at my old ISP's BBS server, they would kick you off every night at 4:00 until about 5:00 or so to do a system scan.

5. what do you mean by the upload link?

I'm fairly literate when it comes to computer stuff, but I don't think I know what you mean. And the journals are back for me now as well.

6. In other words,

instead of using the www.democraticunderground.com link, I use the upload.democraticunderground.com link and the upload link comes up even if the www one is down.
