Interesting.

Article on the White House dinner for the Governors in the NYT, first official dinner of the new administration. New thing that the article covered is Michelle Obama giving a tour of the White House kitchen before the dinner for reporters and six top culinary students. Then, closing out the article:

And for those keeping track of such things, dinner was to be served on the Woodrow Wilson china, mixed with china from the 1939 World’s Fair.

Mixing and matching is also new.


I just find this interesting because, just before the Bushes left the WH, they took delivery of new china that they had designed / selected / whatever. It was explained that not every administration gets to do this, it's just done periodically when there's a need due to breakage and so forth, so that the entire dinner can be served on the same china.
