Could * be the first ever pResident removed from office by the Senate?
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 08:57 PM by roamer65
How many Rethug senators will vote to remove with so many up for re-election in 2008? I think we're getting much closer to impeachment, after which conviction must happen!

2. He could be on the other hand I would expect that someone
will take Barry Goldwater's role and try and talk him into resigning. Though in Bush's case it will probably have to be his mother or maybe Barney.

5. This man will NEVER resign. He will have to be forcibly removed
from the White House. In handcuffs, with cameras shoved in his face.

Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

25. Have to tell you a funny story
I can not tell you the number of times in the past 6+ years I have said this man has got to go to prison and I live for the day he is hauled away in an orange jumpsuit

so - a few weeks ago I called a member of Congress' office - someone who I won't necessarily name - BUT would be VERY VERY involved in an impeachment....and I said to the woman who answered the phone I live for the day this man is hauled out of the White House in an orange jumpsuit and she said AND IN CHAINS....God Bless her - I laughed right out loud my kind of gal!!!!!

And I'm not even kidding I wish/hope/pray EVERY night that this man goes to prison because that is where the FREAK belongs....I share your dream.

3. I doubt that it will go
this far but if it does Chimpy will go down with the ship. Nixon was smart enough to resign. Chimpy is a stubborn fool. They will have to hand-cuff him and physically remove him from the White House.

10. wouldn't that be something?
Worst President in our history (so far, and I hope our country never suffers such a fool again) deserves no less.

I don't want to see him resign, I want the Senate to vote to Impeach.

12. Considering that 2/3 of the Senate would have to find him guilty
Then my answer to you would sadly be "no."

Considering the current make-up of the Senate, I just don't think you would get a 2/3 vote for conviction if he were to go on trial in the Senate.

I think it would be much easier in the House to get articles of impeachment approved. But once he goes on trial in the Senate, the 2/3 is just not there.

That's just my take.

14. Other than wishful thinking, please explain exactly how impeachment would occur.
Has Pelosi said it was back on the table? Has there been a groundswell of support for impeachment in the House? If Bush is impeached and it goes to the Senate for trial, exactly where are the 17 or more votes for conviction in addition to the Democratic votes going to come from because we could certainly not even count on getting all of the Democratic Senators to vote for conviction. It is nice to have dreams and wishful thinking, just don't lose touch with reality.

17. Chances are slim to none. Congress is loath to convict and only begun the process twice.
No prez has ever actually been convicted/removed. It ain't gonna happen. There are political -and- practical reasons...think for a moment about "President Cheney"...

But articles of impeachment were reported out of committee by a bipartisan vote.

 Standing tall, Republican style.

18. Be Careful of What You Wish For
Remember, Nixon was not forced (by impeachment hearings) to resign until Agnew was history. If GDUBYA resigns or is impeached (and convicted), YOU KNOW WHO becomes POTUS44. OMG.

23. I think it's ridiculous to worry about Cheney becoming pResident. He already is
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 10:47 PM by TahitiNut
... (in a de facto sense) except he doesn't have to be visible. Impeaching Smirk means Sneer isn't far behind ... and at least he'd be dragged out of his "undisclosed location." Further, he'd have to nominate a successor VP. That'd be theater worth watching.

Impeach. Remove. Indict. Convict. Imprison. (Rinse. Repeat.)

30. My dream is he is convicted and removed
and as he walks up the stairs of the Marine One Chopper on the WHite House lawn to leave, he turns and gives a Nixon like Three Fingered Salute, like that 'W' he used to make in the beginning with both hands, and turns to enter the Marine One, hits his head and falls BACKWARDS down the stairs..

Lands on the ground and NO ONE goes to help him up :)

So he crawls onto the staircase, amid guffaws all over the country and on TV, and that's the last we see of him..

Until the trials Begin at the HAGUE.

A boy can dream, eh? :)
