People need jobs.

Debt has to be paid.

That is going to take a while, not to mention the Wall street hates everything its hearing about the stimulus packages.

All this assumes it actually works, this could be a much deeper hole than anyone realizes.

...and I'm hoping that unemployment starts to decrease soon enough thereafter that people start feeling more optimistic by 2010 midterms.

but with the stimulus passing and CA finally passing a budget i told my son who's in school at Humboldt to get his financial aid going NOW.

If we or the administration says this will work in months or years we are doomed. It's too easy to claim it's not working.

7. The markets? Three months?

Have you never noticed one of those "business" news days when a corporate giant or two "streamlined" by ... oh, 25,000 or so workers, and the DOW skyrocketed? The markets are not the best indicator of a healthy economy. Less debt and lower unemployment, with a FLAT market and routine, old-fashioned dividends would suit me just fine, but the time to shoot for that is probably long past. In three months, things will be a lot worse than they are now,... but only maybe half as bad as they're going to get in a year's time.
