Wake up you idiots. This whole thing is all the fault of the Democrats.
First it was FDR paying poor people to work instead of giving the money to the rich so they could buy the poor people to use as slaves.

Then it was that damned Johnson and his civil rights legislation, so you even had to pay black people and educate them and stuff.

Then it was Carter, wasting all that money putting solar panels on the White House roof.

Then it was Clinton, and you all know about him. The economy went all to hell about a decade after he was elected.

And now it's that Goddam Obama, repeating all of FDR's mistakes.

2. I will never forgive FDR for that PWA job my grandpa had
If it wasn't for Roosevelt Grandpa would have had to figure out how feed, house and clothe my mom and her siblings himself instead of expecting the government to do it (oh well, Grandpa was a Swede, socialism must have been in his genes).

And me - my dad died when I was young and I was happy to collect Social Security Survivor's Benefits - why in those pre-Reagan days, you could collect them until you were 22 as long as you were a full time student. Thanks to that damn FDR I spend 4 years in college getting my head filled with all sorts of ideas.

And now my mother is dependent on Social Security because of Roosevelt and Medicare because of LBJ.

:sarcasm:

14. Same story except it was my Dad instead of my Grandfather
my Grandfather was quite the man himself beings as how he was raised in georgia and living in a family who owned many slaves he went on to fight in the civil war on the unions side. Yes my Grandfather was quite the man...

Democrats- nominal Democrats, sold everyone out.

Many of the so called reforms of the financial system involved or were intiated by Democrats, who chose Wall Street over Main street.

Further- many Democrats including the so called "leader" of the Senate, have not only enabled and legitimized- but have crossed over and voted for some of the most egregious (read: stupid) legislation that the far right (and their lobbiests) proposed.

So what are people supposed to think?

And how would a halfway honest person argue effectively that the problem in America lies with Republicans?

6. On the spectrum, the GOP is worse, but there are certainly
enough Democrats that gave in or encouraged enough deregulation, etc, to cause this. The Republicans did it largely out of philosophy and greed. I don't know what the motivations of the Democrats were. I really don't understand how they could have supported some of this crap.

23. The Dems had to sell out their own ideals to do the dirty work.
The Republicans didn't.

Sadly, there are many rewards in the system for any Dem who sells out the principles to which they claim adherence.

25. What should we do about it? Lockstep is bad, according to DU.
So crossing over has no risks, since the party doesn't want to appear too authoritarian.

7. Jackpine, if you put on a chimp suit and wrote legislation, the cops would have to shoot you
And apparently the NY Post would applaud their heroics in doing so.

17. Y'know, it's funny-I saw that cartoon without knowing the backstory
about the crazed chimp. I was instantly appalled and sickened, and had absolutely no doubt that this was a vicious, racist attack on Obama and a legitimization of the idea of an assassination.

9. From what I understand, from listening to some repuke on Hardball, it started with Clinton.
Don't ask me what he said; his (lack of) logic was confusing. All I remember is that Matthews reminded the repuke that Clinton left office with a surplus of over $500 billion.

That my vote caused this. Look at how hard the republicans are at work drafting new legislation to fix this. Anyone notice they have no ideas of their own, they just want to be Nay sayers?
