Apple leads 2009 customer satisfaction survey
As usual. No surprise.
__________________________

A survey examining users' satisfaction with recent PC purchases and their near term buying outlook gave Apple the top spot and a distant lead in consumer approval rankings and improved numbers related to buyer's immediate plans for new notebooks.

The numbers compiled by ChangeWave Research, indicate a continued drop in overall spending for both desktops and notebooks, hitting the lowest point in at least two years. Only 4% of respondents plan to buy a new desktop in the next 90 days, and just 6% have notebook plans. That's roughly half of the planned demand expressed in 2007.

Of those who plan to buy new notebooks, 30% said they will buy from Apple, compared to 22% for HP and 26% for Dell. Eighteen percent said they would buy a netbook, up from 14% last month, while two thirds said they wouldn't be considering a netbook and another 16% weren't sure.

In desktops, 26% said they were planning to buy from Apple, while 28% said HP and 32% said Dell. Looking backward at actual purchases over the last 90 days, 15% bought Apple desktops, 27% bought HP, and 33% bought Dell. In notebooks, 20% reported buying Apple, 27% HP, and 33% bought Dell.

1. I'm heavily debating whether to stick with Mac or go back to PC.
I'm leaning more toward sticking with Mac, since Apple has been so good to me over the last few years (my Mac G4 has lasted longer than any laptop I've ever owned, including several Dells), especially since the costs will be about the same. I'd love to get an HP or Sony laptop with Blu-Ray though.

3. I'm writing this from a dual g4 500mhz
Running OS X Tiger. This computer has lasted forever. I have a PC, but I like using my Mac better.

Mac Prices:

Low End Mac:

For example I see a 17 inch 2.5 GHz Penryn, 2/250, $1,800 shipped after rebate, from B&H (oops - sold out)

Apple store has refurbs at that pricepoint. I have bought refurbs before, they are fine.

18. hackintosh ;)
Seriously, it's the only way I ended up getting a mac and it's great. Apple uses the same hardware as a PC now but ridiculously overcharges.

12. You know that, if you want, you can sneak Leopard onto that machine, right? (NT)

16. Yes -- I have an external firewire drive with Leopard on it
It runs pretty darn well. I have Leopard family pack, so I used my dual 1.2 G4 to install Leopard to the firewire drive. But for some reason I haven't switched over 100% on this machine.

2. I try to avoid the "brandwashed" thing.....but I'm an iPod devotee....
And I use a PC at home because I like gaming, but I honestly like the iMac at work a lot better for everything else.

10. My iPhone kicks ass.
And so does my Powerbook G4. I'd love to get one of the new cross-platform Core Duo Macs though.

15. I love my MacBook!
I use a PC for work and the CD drive stopped working. That is the second PC I have that did that (I have a Presario laptop my husband uses). It's ridiculous.
