What's with all the GET A GRANT ads?

I realize the Google-bots roam randomly, but in these times I find it disturbing on this site particularly, since there are no general give-away funds to be had, or so our gov. has informed us! It's like some bizarre monkey-clown is telling a terrible joke over and over again, leaping from one hallway of Hades to the next with his hair on fire and his red lipsticked mouth smeared but smiling to reveal purple vampire teeth, waiting to pounce, never going away!

1. I think it's the "sucker born every minute" principle.

My newspaper (Austin American-Statesman) always has a couple of full-page ads about how you can get rich on something or other. I think its caused by two things: the "sucker" principle, and the fact that the newspaper is so desperate for ad revenue that they'll take advertising from practically anybody.

My bullshit detector goes off immediately at this kind of advertising. I'm surprised that they attract anybody.

2. They would sell you instructions about how to get a gov. grant.

Grants are not easy to get.
