3. Is it the Muslim communities that don't condone usury in their banking system?
The Christian bible warns against usury - even Aristotle warned against it before Christ! It seems strange our nation is founded on Christian principles yet no one will consider jubilee (debt forgiveness) as a viable option, which is puzzling and also makes me nervous. At the rate of our current national debt of insanity, we may be stuck with two options. Debt forgiveness or complete default.

scary times.

7. We have had a usury based economy for the past decade, maybe two.

Easy credit drove prices up to the point where anything more expensive than a PC was difficult to buy without credit. It used to be that you could save up and buy a car. Cars cost $15,000 now. Quite a bit to save up. I don't think I even have to mention what happened to housing prices, but the price of everything has skyrocketed with no increase in wages. Buying on credit used to be an option, but now it's pretty much a requirement.

But it's looking like those days have come to an abrupt end, huh?

10. Usury
What do Hammurabi, Plato, Charlemagne, Dante and Queens Mary and Elizabeth have in common? They all condemned, outlawed or regulated the charging of interest on loans. In fact, until the early 1900s interest rates in the United States were kept at or near 10%. And until 1979, loan laws provided some interest rate cap in every state.
