When I learned that Couric would be interviewing Edwards, I refused to watch

I vote for John Edwards it will because he is dealing with ordinary American issues. He cares for his children, participates in the care of an ailing family member and he holds a job. Americans want a president who can relate to and is focused on health insurance, education, elder care and world environment. Too many Americans have died and too much time and money has been devoted to Iraq. We now want a human being as President that Americans and the whole world can relate to.

I hesitated watching the interview because Katie was doing it. And I was right. She is horrible, just horrible. Not just in this interview, but all around. I found this interview to be so insulting to the Edwards, especially in this time of courage they are showing. Where is her grace and wisdom? If she felt that the viewers want to know these petty questions, she is dead wrong! How off base can you be? I actually admired her when her husband was dying and the strength she showed and how she did continue to go on with her life, just as the Edward's are! That interview is an example of why her ratings are at the bottom!

This was a one note interview and very distasteful. Poor job 60 minutes.

Katie Couric was cruel to the Edwards. I did not hear her say one positive thing to them. I have already switched channels for the evening news.I like 60 minutes but if this kind of behavior is allowed to continue I will quit watching that program also.

The small number of media moguls vying to be big brother want to privatize the internet...imagine if the multinational wealth behind the 3 major media outlets privatize another piece of intellectual property legally seized from the public sector and converted to a private propagandist capitalistic money mill. We'll be faced with even more Rush Limbaughs, Coulters and Courics.

I have watched 60 Minutes from its inception, and I must admit that I cringe everytime that I see Katie Couric on the broadcast. What a grand leap it is to go from the likes of Wallace, Reasoner, Safer, Bradley, and Rooney, to a junior varisty team of Katie Couric and Anderson Cooper.

What has happened to the journalistic integrity of news in this country?

I saw her give her under the eyebrow scowl and it gave me the shivers. Her asking snarky questions with both a smile and a glare are just too fake for me. I can't bear to watch her do anything serious. She should stick to fluff pieces, that's her specialty.

wanted to see the Edwards but after reading on DU over the years about couric's interview style on Dems, I was wary.

It turned out to be a win/win situation because John and Elizabeth's demonstration of Southern Graciousness finally put couric in her place through sheer poise.

4. I watched that interview and was greatly inspired by it.

Couric's pointed questions provided Edwards and his wife with a perfect venue to nullify all the RW hate that will be thrown at him in the months to come.

He took their seedling talking points - in Couric's openly challenging questions, respectfully asked - and turned each one into display of intelligence, courage and honesty.

I have a much better feeling for who John Edwards is today. I am so pleased that we Dems have so many quality candidates that each have the ability to shine so much brighter than anything the pukes have in their closet.

6. I didn't watch it, but read the transcript.

And I read about 12 pages of comments afterward. The tone of the interview definitely came through in the text, and the vast majority of comments noted that the Edwards were poised and graceful and much to be admired, while the interview questions were deliberately cruel and badgering. Lots of cancer survivors among the comments as well, who applauded John & Elizabeth for living their lives to the fullest rather than crawling home to die. Some who even started by saying they were not Democrats, or even that they were Republicans, but they still admired the Edwards' genuine courage and strength and honest intentions, while deploring Katie Couric. (Of course there are always a few nutjobs in every mix, so there were one or two Dem-bashing and Edwards-bashing comments as well, but only a tiny tiny percentage.) If nothing else, it showed who really has class and who doesn't.

to keep their message out, and yes, to show Katie how to be human.

8. I don't recall Katie Couric dropping out of the picture

when her husband was sick. And she didn't withdraw from society afterwards. What was her point? I thought she was rather badgering as well.

9. I have not seen any comment about the fact that Elizabeth now has

cancer in three places, one being in her hip. This was admitted in their interview on 60 minutes. That sounds much more serious than what they announced at their press conference earlier in the week.

I skimmed through 17 pages (I think it's up to about 75 pages now) and I'd guess 99% of the posts I saw were slamming Couric. I skipped to the last couple pages and found the same thing. It doesn't look like the wingnuts have found the page yet. I wonder if anyone at CBS is showing these to Katie.
