Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz Imposes Salary Freeze

Yahoo Inc.'s employees will forgo their usual pay raises this year as the slumping Internet company struggles to boost its profits in a brutal recession.

The Sunnyvale-based company confirmed the salary freeze Thursday, the day after informing employees of the decision.

The austerity measure marks one of the first cost-cutting actions taken by Yahoo's new chief executive, Carol Bartz, who was hired two weeks ago to engineer a turnaround.

Her past experience: Senior Lead Engineer - Quality, Enterprise Operations at General Dynamics - Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS)
Senior Manager - Business Development, Intelligence Mission Solutions at General Dynamics - Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS)
Deputy Vice President, Network Operations Support Group at Veridian

Consider the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, the U.S. government's senior trade advisory panel, which favored several of the free-trade agreements that Bush was unable to push through Congress.

Bush named three members to the panel on Christmas Eve: Carol Ann Bartz, chief executive of Yahoo, who donated about $35,000 to Bush and other Republicans over the past six years;

2. They also offshored 1500 jobs recently.
They fired 1500 U.S. workers and shipped their jobs overseas.

That's why I switched my email/pictures from Yahoo/Flickr to Care2.com, a small company in California. They're great... check them out!

When companies get too big, especially once they get on the stock market and go multinational, they lose their soul. When that happens, they have no loyalty and they deserve none.

I've been switching whatever business I do from corporations to small businesses whenever there's an option.

4. That's been my impression, too.
As I am so often reminded, no one is pure and every business is tainted in some way (voluntarily or not), so we just do the best we can.
