TEMPE, Ariz. — If you want a pillow and blanket in coach on US Airways, it's going to cost you $7.

US Airways said Thursday it will begin charging for its "Power-Nap Sack" on Feb. 16. It's following the lead of JetBlue Airways, which announced a similar policy last summer.

5. Great way to get more business, guys.
from the link:

"Airlines are adding fees on checked luggage and now pillows and blankets to raise more money as they battle a downturn in travel caused by the recession. US Airways reported that January traffic fell 6.2 percent."

So they piss off customers, driving even more of them away? What is wrong with this picture?

8. They need creative thinking and innovation.
Instead it's the same old corporate crap, the same tired old methods that got them into this mess. Want more customers? Free booze, baby. That'll liven things up.

7. Well, her estate might by responsible for the unpaid rent up to a point.
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 05:23 PM by aikoaiko
But that is pretty cold-hearted.

I mean if her stuff was there for a period of time after her death and normally they would require a month's notice, then I could see that her estate would have to make good on the contract she signed.

12. I have no problem with it, I was on a flight one time where the woman next to me...
asked for a blanket and a pillow as soon as she got on the plane. She told me she does it because there is a limited number of them on the plane and she wanted to make sure she had them. I thought, OK not a bad idea but then she put them under her seat and did not use them for the entire flight. Too me it was just a greedy thing for her to do, to grab a resource because it was limited and not use it was pretty disgusting.

14. I Have a Problem With It
but I also have a problem with people who abuse amenities. On one flight the woman behind me buzzed the flight attendant four different times while the flight was boarding to ask for a pillow. After she got the third pillow and buzzed again while telling her husband loudly she wanted a fourth pillow he just hung his head and acted like he wasn't there. I couldn't stand it and turned around and told her to grow up other people were trying get seated. She acted very offended and her husband smiled from ear to ear.

21. Well, I'm sure
they dropped all of their fares by $7 across the board, so that only the people who want the pillow and blanket will be paying for it.

Right.

22. You'd better buy it!
In case of water landing, your pillow can be used as a floation device.

(and your barf bag can be used as a parachute!)
