Poll question: If executives leave corporations due to ...
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 06:14 PM by ColbertWatcher
... the stipulations Obama outlined (eg: $500,000 salary cap for CEO), who would replace them?

(Many of the screaming heads on TV claim that we have to pay these executives whatever they determine they need, adding that no one can replace them.)

... and go ahead and let the door pop him/her in the ass on his/her way out.
The corporation just may be better off without the blood-sucking CEO.

4. Only the finest most educated persons of the right genetic stock could possibly fill those positions
that is why there is such a small pool of truly qualified truly TALENTED individuals Masters of the Universe who can do it...or succeed after the ones that just did it ...or precede the ones who are about to do it

it really comes down the the fact that they are simply better than the rest of us and if we lower the pay rate for one then all the pay rates could come down see they are all in this together not US just them.

11. You are so right, how can anyone dare ask them to give up their ...
... destiny?

We must not stand in the way of tradition.

15. There's a couple of things they don't teach you in Harvard Business School
Russ Cargill: There's a couple of things they don't teach you in Harvard Business School, one is how to cope with defeat, the other is how to handle a shotgun, I'm going to do both right now.

EPA Official: S-sir, I'm afraid you've gone mad with power...
Russ Cargill: Of course I have. You ever tried going mad without power? It's boring. No one listens to you!

Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?
Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

Russ Cargill: Your government has realized that sealing you under this dome was a terrible mistake. Therefore, we are commencing with Operation Soaring Eagle

Russ Cargill: ... which involves killing you all.

5. Hell, most of these jackoffs just know how to do one thing -- DELEGATE.
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 06:18 PM by Donnachaidh
If that's the case, *I'LL* have a crack at 400K. I'm a quick study and have been known to crack the whip at the right time.

Geithner used TurboTax -- how hard can it be to do those sort of jobs?

those are the people that build companies up, not tear them down.

7. Judging strictly by the job that a great many of these execs have done...
I would be willing to give a monkey of average intelligence a shot at it. Of course, the monkeys might not be that interested. $500,000 just doesn't buy as many bananas as it used to.

8. How about their assistants? They are usually smarter and better
informed than the bosses anyway and they would really appreciate the huge raise.

14. I should add their secretaries.
Because as everyone knows, they're the ones who make sure everything keeps humming.

It takes an executive to really fuck things up.

16. I was actually thinking of them as well, thanks for the clarification.
The term secretary is often interchangeable with assistant as it is considered sexist.

10. What separates this life form from the normal ceo
is their ability to grab and squeeze the appropriate testicles
at the right time.
So what business has been, is a great bis nut holding circle.
I wonder why it's collapsing?

12. The fact that these executives can balk at $500k/year only proves how much we need to drain them.
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 06:40 PM by Marr
Imagine turning up your nose at that kind of money-- for the "work" they do. This is one of the best illustrations I've seen that we have an exorbitantly wealthy class who needs to be taxed back into sanity.

I mean seriously-- these people shrug off $500k like it's chump change, in an economy where people are losing their homes, where wages are lower than ever, where people can't even afford healthcare.

19. I'll do it for $300,000.
I'd buy magic 8-balls for the underwriters, then spend my days playing golf and the piano. Of course this would result in the bank losing lots of money, but the Treasury Department will bail me out so it doesn't matter.
