I prefer to look at these recent tax scandals in a different light....

I am not about to argue that the situation with Daschle, Geithner, and Killfer is not an extreme embarrassment for the Democratic party, because it most certainly is, however now is the perfect opportunity for the Obama administration to rise to the challenge of really changing how our government operates. I have seen folks argue that what our guys have done is not near as bad as what republicans have done. This argument falls very flat because if we want to change things we have to be better than that. I say let these guys be the sacrificial lambs. If this administration is going to clean house, it should start right it its own backyard. That means that Geithner has to go and Obama has to do it. If he wants to maintain the trust and respect of me and many others he can't make excuses. A leader has to set the example. I really believe that this negative can be turned quite positive if he only has the will.

1. It's time to clean up Washington from both sides of the aisle!
And in the process maybe if these crooks start paying their rightful taxes the rest of us won't have to pay more and more and more.

8. But we seem to be concentrating on the stray bits of refuse on this side
while ignoring the huge steaming pile of excrement from a host of various-sized quadrupeds on the other.

10. I've got your back on that assertion -
we're never going to be the scum that Republicans are, not ever, not even close.

To wit: http://www.republicanoffenders.com/

12. We've got to handle what we have control over
We have much more control over our side than we do on the other.

2. Personally, I've never felt that the "We're not as bad
as they are" position is of much value. I agree with you. I don't know that Geithner necessarily needs to go as both sides of the aisle seem to believe he is the right person for the job. I've got a bigger problem with whom he selected to work for him and that undersecretary over at Defense.

9. The people out there in the great expanse of the US of A think that
every politician is a crook anyway, we can't change that...

What we can do is run the show the best way we can and show the country that the Dem's can run the government much better than the GOP...

3. Yeah, there's a ringing endorsement: "our guys are not as bad as the Republicans".
This is an opportunity for change unless another one of these comes up. Wouldn't it be simple to ask a potential nominee when being vetted, "Do you have any skeletons in your closet because they will be found out and made public". This really, really should not happen again because it is majorly embarrassing.

4. False premise.
"I am not about to argue that the situation with Daschle, Geithner, and Killfer are not an extreme embarrassment for the Democratic party, because they most certainly are"

See, that right there is a load of certified bullshit.

5. Corpmedia gets away with EXAGGERATING Dem problems and MINIMIZING real criminal behavior

from any Republican.

No one is arguing that Dems should get a pass on anything - but, ever see a GOP get smeared for anything as little as any Dem? They have outright CRIMINALS getting passes.

You think a Dem congressman would have a show on MSNBC if an intern showed up dead in his office?

I think you twisted some of the legitimate points being made.

6. At least this is not about a democrat's penis.
Maybe now we can nail them all and clean up the sewer in Washington. Wishful thinking, maybe, but the reason voted for Obama was change...on BOTH sides

7. Show them the Dems will do what the GOP wouldn't
Which is not stand for this kind of crap. Bush should have been shit canning most of the people in his cabinet, but instead they just seemed to quit instead, tired of putting up with the crap. Of course that would have required an Impeachment of Bush or for him to resign as President since he was the biggest offender. Set precedent. Obama should say, "Clean it up, do it right, or you are gone...and what are you smiling about over there you 4 remaining Republicans!? The voters have already 'fired' most of your buddies asses, your next"!

13. I think there not scandals
Frankly tax problems are not uncommon. In most cases these Democrats self identified or once notified immediately corrected their mistake. I just don't see these things as huge mistakes. Many common honest Americans have to file amended tax returns. I'm happy congress caught these things and made them public. That's what oversight is for. Should it stop these people from working in our government? But asking questions of people is a clear sign the government is working better than it has before.
