An interesting and simple calculator of birth rate function

The author of this web-page made several assumptions but I feel it is still an excellent illustration of fertility over time.

I plugged in seven offspring for generation one, and added a Japaneseque birthrate of 1.4 for each following decade. Even then it took 250 years to undue the ecological footprint of the original Eve. Changing this rate slightly higher will add hundreds or thousands of years to the process and any rate of 2.1 or higher will never reach this goal.

Unless the overall society is one that has a negative population replacement rate what is the likelihood that each branch of this family tree will act independently in deference to their history to maintain this reducing rate? IMHO not very likely.
