Nothing has been as emblematic & disgusting in the last 3 decades as
the shafting of the middle economic tier in terms of taxes and the cost of governance.

I am completely fed-up with educated, sophisticated, wealthy, members of the entitled and governing class who somehow don't know the basics of tax responsibility and can't apparently hire competent people.

Or perhaps their people are VERY competent and say, "let's see if we get audited, we probably won't because they spend their time auditing Joe and Mary Shit who make less than 50K - you can probably get away with this")

2. No one should discount the emotion this issue raises
or think that it doesn't matter in terms of cabinet choices, etc. I said before that Geithner's problem seemed to be a little esoteric and not relevant to most people, but Daschle's problem is very different. AND it smacks of elitism, he just didn't realize that his car and driver were subject to taxes.

He just didn't realize his gratis car and driver were subject to taxes. Please. Spare us.

4. Yes and he was making 2 million a year from that company-whose owner also had close ties to Edwards

and some questionable business dealing in the past.

I wonder how much consulting Daschle did.

Geithner headed the NY Fed and was responsible for the financial system oversight ----looks as though he had to have know what was going on.

3. Our systems of business and government have failed US miserably.
It is NOW time to start over. Corporate business including wall street requires heavy regulation and intense oversight. Our corporate democracy is a complete failure, time to create a true democracy of ALL the people. Taxation can be simplified without creating confusion and loop holes for the filthy stinking rich bastards. rethugs think those with more or the most should yet have even more, while those with little or nothing should have less than nothing; jerks that think like this should rule nothing.
