TPM: Goodling took Indefinite Personal Leave
"The Justice Department also said yesterday that Monica Goodling, a senior counselor to Gonzales who worked closely with Sampson on the firings, took an indefinite personal leave from her job on Monday. A Justice official said that she is still employed there but that it is not clear when she will return.

Goodling was the DOJ liaison to the White House."

Anyone know if she was subpoenaed? I don't think so, but she must be lawyering up.

2. Sure would be nice to know exactly what she needed an indefinite
personal leave for. Did her bosses tell her to get lost? Very interesting...

4. Couple that with the loss of the Fraud Section Chief
DailyKOS: Gonzales Sneaks in Appointment of New Fraud Section Chief Last Week (Think Halliburton) -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x494688, and it looks like a very concerted effort to cover their asses. Run away you scurrying rats... we are coming for you.

6. Goodling a major spokesperson against so-called "partial-birth abortion"
http://www.lifenews.com/nat407.html (March 26, 2004)

Judges in three states will hold separate hearings on Monday on lawsuits filed by abortion advocates seeking to overturn the partial-birth abortion ban President Bush signed last year.

...

The Bush administration says it will "will work vigorously to defend the law."

"The Department will be devoting all resources necessary to defend the bipartisan findings of Congress that this violent practice is unnecessary, as well as painful and cruel to the partially born child," Justice Department spokeswoman Monica Goodling said in a statement provided to LifeNews.com.

"A bipartisan majority in Congress reached this conclusion after eight years of testimony from respected medical professionals who stated that partial-birth abortion is never medically necessary," Goodling added.

A loyal bushie, indeed.

13. I am betting she was needed immediately somewhere far from subpoena service LOL
Just her job title would lead to a subpoena.

16. A case of pre-emptive "Hide the Stool Pigeon"
If they pretend to not know where she is, or how to reach her, how can congress "serve" her with a subpoena?

18. I agree, lawyering up
She's possibly retained a lawyer who, sensibly imo, wants to totally isolate her from outside influence. This way any discussions that happen in her department after her departure will not pertain to her. In such a scenario she has zero to gain from contact with anyone in the administration.

21. I don't know if she has been subpoenaed......
but she needs to be. She was definitely in the know. Her name was in way too many of the e-mail documents that were released.
