I must apologize to you for the email I wrote to you last night; it was written in the heat of the moment, and it was insufficiently polite.
You have been a hero of mine for years, ever since you ran for President a decade ago. I voted for you in the primary, as I have told you before.
But I'm very upset with some things that you are doing now, and I desperately do not want to see you end your political career in disgrace, best known for trying to sabotage and hinder President Obama's vision and plan for what our country could be.
Please understand something, and make no mistake: I love President Obama, as do most of the people who voted for him. I will do anything he asks of me; that is how devoted I am to this new administration. He is not merely a politician to me, but an answer to the agony of the past eight years and an arrow pointing to a better future.
Senator McCain, you have served our country honorably, but we need to move ahead. And the last thing in the world we need now are people like you standing in the way of progress. You have been someone that I and millions of others have looked up to and admired.
Please don't wreck it all now by standing in the way of the future.
Your last Presidential campaign was not so successful. We elected President Obama, not you. Please be reasonable and stop standing in the way of the future. Thank you, and thank you for your service to our country.
Please keep helping America move forward and don't begin to become the problem rather than the solution.
Thank you.
