About freakin' time; I guess he figured his 2010 election bid wasn't in jeopardy. :eyes:

3. I guess he just needed time to verify that he, himself, can't be indited with war crimes.
What an American hero.

4. thank god. Holder's got them running scared. good.
there was no need to hold up this man's confirmation. and what the hell is Specter thinking of, even if they had another nomination who wouldn't say waterboarding is torture.

15. I googled, and I found this very interesting history of Specter.
To mw, quite worth the reading since I did not know much about him prior to 2006.
Very enlightening.
doesn't say much for his chances at re-election, either.

7. They offered him a delicious cashew
Then said "No more cashews unless you vote to confirm Holder."

11. Good - now wee can get on with it
How are some of these folks voted back into office after such shenanigans? They never really had a valid reason to hold this nomination up - it is purely political.

12. Specter's action was a form of political masturbation. He doesn't
have any real power, so he has to settle for something less.

13. Senator Grandstand strikes again
I'll bet a nickel he votes against Holder, but at least he's not standing in the way anymore. That was a pretty quick el foldo from Arlen. Maybe the object lesson of his protege Gordon Smith was not lost on him after all. (For the record, Gordon was also very good at playing all bipartisan and stuff for the edification of the voters back home, but when it came time to vote on a bill he was a reliable Republican vote. Oregon voters finally cottoned on to his act and sent him packing back to Pendleton; one hopes the lesson has at last sunk into Arlen's little cranium.)

... Spineless Harry and even Leahy gave the old bastard Specter something, to be sure.

Moi? cynical?
