From Mercy High to White House halls
BY JOSEPH MORTON
WORLD-HERALD BUREAU

WASHINGTON — Obama administration staffers reported for duty at the White House following last week's inauguration, and an Omaha native was there to greet them.

Katie Bradley began working with Barack Obama's campaign in 2007, was on his transition team and now has a position in the White House.

Katie Bradley, 24, handed out BlackBerries, laptops and ID cards to incoming staffers and even reviewed White House floor plans to help make room assignments.

"It was almost like the first day of college," Andy Bradley said of his daughter's new job.

Her official title is deputy associate director in the Office of Management and Administration. Her father described her role as being an office manager.

Katie Bradley, whose mother is Jenny Bradley, is a graduate of Mercy High School, class of 2003. Word of her job in the White House has spread through the Mercy community.

She got her start with Barack Obama in 2007, when she moved to Des Moines and volunteered for his presidential campaign. She had recently graduated from Creighton University with a degree in journalism. She quickly moved into a paid position.
