Their excuse is that Viagra treats a medical condition but birth control does not. Gee, I thought pregnancy was not only a medical condition but in fact has a whole field of medicine devoted to it.

What hypocrites. They pay to make sure a guy can get it up, but not for medication that can help a poor woman who doesn't want children to protect herself when he does. Misogynists one and all.

Women's groups really need to hit these guys hard.

Of course. Have I mentioned today how much I HATE republicans? I'm on one. I'm calling on the Universe for justice because I can't take anymore of this shit. Believe me, Republican men SUCK in bed and are underendowed, thus the reason they are such egotistical assholes. The only thing big about them are their egos and flabby bellies.

5. Thank god the Bush years are over...well almost
If men are denied access to birth control, we will hear a lot more of an uproar.

The bill that Bush signed in the 11th hour could make it so that men could be denied the purchase of condoms.

It may take years before Obama can reverse all the garbage Bush and his cronies have left us with.

8. Also, Viagra is a lot more expensive than most birth control.
And while we're at it, just exactly WHY is Viagra not prescribed for women? All it does is dilate blood vessels...IMHO, it would work the same way for a woman's desire as it does for a man's.

If this is true, we should have shouted this from the rooftops about whomever did this when they ran for reelection.

14. What I find appalling
is these are the men who tell women to keep their legs together. It's slutty women who instigate intercourse, dontcha know? Not Viagra driven men, poor dears. They have a medical condition that leaves them vulnerable to rape by these slutty hussies.

17. AP - Obama appeals to Dems to cut family planning from stimulus.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3708171

WASHINGTON – House Democrats appear likely to jettison family planning funds for the low-income from an $825 billion economic stimulus bill, officials said late Monday, following an appeal from President Barack Obama at a time the administration is courting Republican critics of the legislation.

Several officials said a final decision was likely on Tuesday, coinciding with Obama's scheduled visit to the Capitol for separate meetings with House and Senate Republicans.

The provision has emerged as a point of contention among Republicans, who criticize it as an example of wasteful spending that would neither create jobs nor otherwise improve the economy.

Under the provision, states no longer would be required to obtain federal permission to offer family planning services — including contraceptives — under Medicaid, the health program for the low-income.

23. I hope so too
In addition to pissing me off, I don't think cutting family planning will help the stimulus bill pass. The reason the Republicans are asking to cut family planning, is that they know it will piss a large percentage of the Democrats base so we don't show up for the 2010 elections. Obama fell for it, I hope the Democrats in Congress don't also fall for it.

I just wanna fucking kick the shit out of these people. They want men to get their boners, but to hell with women who either don't want to have more kids or who need birth control pills for medical reasons like endometriosis. Fucking idiots. :grr:

According to their beliefs, if you can't get it up, isn't that "God's will"? If you can't get it up anymore, then God's trying to tell you that you're just too old and shouldn't can't have sex anymore. Maybe he will hear your prayers and restore your potency.
Viagra is interfering with God's will!!! It must therefore be banned!!!!!! Sorry fellas!

Well, consistency has NEVER been one of the GOP's strong suits after all. :eyes:

22. Without The Pill you ain't gonna NEED that fucking Viagra.
See? Easily solved.

Sorry, but the bitch just creeps out of me sometimes--ya know?

Aaaanywho, I had this EXACT conversation with a Republican County Board member one time. They were in the middle of negotiating the new union contract with the AFSCME local and prescription coverage was a huge issue. AFSCME wanted it (All employees needed and wanted it) and the County Board Republicans were getting stubborn that it was just NOT gonna happen because it was gonna cost too much.

I will NEVER forget this man standing in the hallway growling out the opinion that he would be DAMMED if they were gonna pay for "Some Secretary's birth control."

I asked him if he'd be willing to pay for her abortion instead. He repeated his statement that it was just too much money.

I asked if he'd be willing to pay for her maternity care and childbirth bills along with well baby coverage and immunizations for the kid. He still thought it was too much money to provide The Pill.

I asked if he realized all the Viagra in the world wasn't gonna do him a bit of good if he never could find a woman willing to have sex because she couldn't afford to buy her birth control pills or pay for a baby or even an abortion.

Dunno if I made a difference or not, but they finally did relent and we got prescription coverage for all employees.

Don't say "fuck 'em." Say "Without it I WON'T fuck them."
