Made in the USA ~ A thread to challenge DU ~ shop locally
I've been trying to find an American made sled. I know that the task is insane. So I bring it to DU.
Proposal-
post requests for American made items.. du'ers reply if you know where such items could be purchased..
for example..
if a du'er posted Where can I find handmade pinetar soap?
Someone might reply check out this site http://www.balmzara.com/soap/page14/page60/page60.html from near my home in NC.

So that is how it works...
now..
Where can I find an American made sled or tube? Anyone?

4. I actually went to this throw back shopping center - old school
The Thruway Shopping Center in Walden NY. It is one of the last free standing stores in the region. It has not been killed by the strip mall, galleria, or walmart. yet.
Anyway they carry Radio Flyer..but did not have any sleighs. And all of the radioflyer things that they did have were all made in China.

I would have bought one if they sold one..but I was actually looking for plastic or some sort of inner tube type thing..they won't let ya use metal blades (like radio flyers have) where I ride.

3. If I'm not at DU, I'm at this site
http://www.findusmade.com/index.htm

For the pine soap, try Lightfoot's and MoSoap in the Bath & Body department.

For the sled try Needle in a Haystack, Lehman's, Mountain Boy Sleds, Turner Toys & USAB2C in both of the Toy departments.

Also try the Marketplace search and the Resource Search.

I learn a great deal from that site.

6. Lehman's Nonelectric Catalog has LOTS of US made stuff.
http://www.lehmans.com/

I buy lots of housewares and home stuff from them. Good company, good people. Almost every item they list has a notation about where it's made.

8. Support Lehmans
They are in Amish country Ohio nto far from where I live. Nicest people in the world. Hard working, etc. Great quality.
