If Matt Damon agrees to debate Kristol and Kristol wins BIG FUCKING DEAL. . .
. . .Politics and public policy is what Kristol is supposed to know for a living and Damon is an actor. I think its funny that "BIG HOLLYWOOD" is offering Damon money for this. "BIG HOLLYWOOD" is nothing but a right wing front.

Iraq War Showdown: Bill Kristol Agrees to Debate Matt Damon After Actor’s “Idiot” Slam
by Andrew Breitbart

On Sunday afternoon Weekly Standard editor and New York Times columnist Bill Kristol — in an email exchange with Big Hollywood — agreed to debate Matt Damon on his Hollywood home turf after being informed the 38-year old actor ridiculed Kristol in an interview in the Miami Herald.

“He’s an idiot — he wrote that we should be grateful to George Bush because he won the Iraq war. We! Won! The! War!”

As the sponsor of the event, Big Hollywood is offering $100,000 to Damon (or to the charity or carbon credit of his choice) to publicly debate Kristol at a mutually agreed upon time, date and venue.

During the last election cycle the liberal activist Damon — who briefly attended Harvard University — also heaped scorn on John McCain’s vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin:

1. If you ever seen him on TDS
you know he has no chance in an actual debate. The guy is clueless.

3. Who, Kristol or Matt Damon?
I thought Damon was moderately intelligent (although no Paul Krugman or anything like that). Kristol IS an idiot however...

24. Kristol
John usually runs circles around him. When faced with opposition he generally backs down from everything. He's really sad to watch live.

4. He knows his shit - he's just more of a writer
When asked to think on his feet, he doesn't do so well

2. Damon will have no trouble with Kristol.
Kristol is delusional, however, and that could present some problems in trying to debate from a factual standpoint.

5. I certainly appreciate that some actors are progressive and support Democrats. But....
...I suspect Matt Damon may get his ass handed to him if he decides to join this debate.

7. Damon is actually pretty smart. Did you see the clip of him slamming Sarah Palin?

9. I don't doubt that he is smart.
But he doesn't do this for a living. Kristol is editor of the Weekly Standard, which means he doesn't have to actually win the debate. All Kristol needs to do is act condescending toward Damon and he will be declared the winner.

Matt should debate another actor. Maybe Ron Silver is free. Or Drew Carey.

13. All he has to do is reprise his Good Will Hunting role.
Remember how his character took down the Harvard guy in the bar? "All you need is a library cahd. 50 cents in late chahges."

Seriously though, Kristol's stature makes the expectations high for him and low for Damon. Sarah Palin was said to have "won" her debate with Biden by some people because she didn't sound like a total dipshit.

8. Agreed.
Anyway, the time to have this debate was in 2003. Damon is just going to end up looking stupid for engaging in this discussion.

6. Do you really think such a debate would have a clear winner?
Matt Damon is a movie star, and most people are starstruck. He could come out and say, "Pee pee poo poo," and Matt Damon fans would declare him the victor. Similar comments apply for Kristol.

10. Does it matter? Is this about..
winning or losing, or is it about debating an issue?

14. We know 100% of the debate's content already
So all we can do is assess the personalities involved.

17. That's the nature of debates, no?
the content is known beforehand, and each side defends their position?

19. Yes, but in this case the debate is about celebrity, not Iraq.
Matt Damon thinks he's a policy wonk. Kristol thinks he can take down a spoiled movie star.

Neither will provide anyone with anything other than chest-puffery. It's silly.

20. So a Public Debate..
where some truth might be revealed is a bad idea, because one of the participants is an activist actor. I get it.

21. No, you twist it.
All I said was that this debate is about the personalities involved, not the dissemination of fact.

23. that's your assumption..
I'm always glad to see a person attempting to get some facts out there, especially when they know they will be ripped to pieces by a large part of the American population who think they have no right to do so.

12. The problem is Kristol's love of presenting bullshit as fact
When he gets cornered, he pulls out some obscure statistic or quote that no one has ever heard of and presents it as if it's obvious proof that he's correct. Most people don't think to question where he gets his information from.

16. Debating that media whore only helps him. Do not debate him, but do ask him
to list the 10 things that Matt Damon has said that turned out to be completely wrong, and Matt will list the same for Wiliam. Print that in the NYTimes and be done with it.

18. It's like having a good athlete try to play ice hockey just because he's an athlete
Bill Kristol knows how manipulate, spin and use every debate trick possible to shred someone not accustomed to such verbal warfare.

I think he could take ol' BillyBoy.
