2 questions about the pet food problem, food contamination, how it might directly affect people
1. What is to say that all the whatever in our food supply is safe?
2. (weird one) Do people eat canned pet food?

I think this is part of the answer, but of course i could be wrong.

As far as question #2: yes, there are some people that eat canned pet foods, usually the exceptionally cheap varieties, and generally at the end of the month before the SS checks show up in accts. I knew of 2 people that ate canned cat food, I, and some others did some quick work to ensure they had an adequate diet...Both of them were too ashamed at being poor to let anyone know, (not that this is something that someone would just 'bring up' in conversation anyway).

Between what we could offer at the time, and with help from The Salvation Army, and local agencies, we got them the help they needed. There are certainly more than these two I knew years ago, I'm sure that the #'s have risen as people live longer, and there is the cost problem as well as the sociological problem of being able to ask for aid when necessary...:(
