CBO Report on Stimulus Turns Out Not to Exist

The GOP has been citing the report as saying that most of the stimulus package won't be spent until after 2010. Turns out not to be true but concocted as a talking point to protest the stimulus package. Sheesh, won't they ever quit?? I heard one citing it on Hardball last night. Full story here:

2. I knew it was much too early for them to score a plan which hasn't been finalized
This should circulate well.

5. NO! The media ran with it because they work for the GOP.
The conservative corporate media is our greatest enemy. The conservative corporate media machine must be destroyed.

4. It's been said before
Many here have pointed out, and this goes to show it, that as much as President Obama (and I support the ideal) wants to work in a bipartisan or nonpartisan way he won't be able to do it if the Republicans insist on playing the old spin and lie politics. The Republicans seem to think that a bipartisan solution is that they present what they want and the Democrats automatically agree therefore it is 'bipartisan'. I support President Obama's attempts to make the discourse in Washington DC more civil, but there should be limits. You can be assured that in the historic 'first 100 days' the Repubs will do everything they can to obstruct any substantial successes by the Obama administration. Of course, they will then turn around and point out that the Obama administration did nothing in their first 100 days.

President Obama has to realize that the current crop of Republican leaders never stops campaigning. Everything they do is meant to either weaken the Democrats or strengthen the Republican position for the next election and has very little to do with helping people or fixing problems. If President Obama is serious about bipartisanship he should do everything he can to circumvent the oppositions leadership and talk to those in the Republican party that are really interested in helping fix the problems in this country. If after making these attempts it becomes obvious that the Republicans are just going to use their 'echo chamber' to try and undercut all of the initiatives put forward then President Obama should use the bully pulpit and push hard to do it his way. Personally I think President Obama's people are smart enough politically that if the Republicans try to obstructionist it will be turned against them and 2010 could see the Repubs losing enough Senate seats that they would lose any ability to influence legislation (we can only dream!!!).
