I would guess that he thinks they are all full of crap but that the Republicans are just so out there right now that you can't help but ridicule them

I get the sense from his interviews that he is in the Bernie Sanders/pull power from where it sits and give it to ordinary folks/Taibbi/Sirota realm of politics. He has a great ear for cutting through the rhetorical pablum.
