I'm tired of the fucked up media. They are irresponsible at best, pure evil at their worse!
They are still acting like the future of America is a game.

They give me the Jeebies.

They were helping the Republicans when the Republicans were in office making a mess....
and they are still helping them now.

I remember after the 2000 election, one could hardly find a Democrat in front of a camera, let alone a microphone.....unless one tuned into C-Span.

But now that it is a "large" Democratic majority, we even hear about it when Bohner Farts, or Limbaugh barks.

Don't they realize that the deficit equals the cost of the Iraq War to almost the penny? They obviously don't accept the fact that Republicans policies bankrupt this nation?

They couldn't look into missing billions in Iraq, but they can hyperventilate when Obama reminds Republicans that he won.

They say that Obama's speech had no soundbyte, although all of the headlines on 1/21/09 had quotes like "We have chosen Hope over Fear", and "The Remaking of America", and "We are ready to Lead again". It is as though they didn't hear the speech, in particular, the part where Obama talks about "time to put away childish things".

Anderson Cooper is the worse, IMO. He just gets on my fucking nerves!

Who are these monsters?

What's that about?

1. There is a book you MUST read -
It's absolutely required reading. Your post is like a blurb for it.

It's called "So Wrong For So Long: How The Press, The Pundits - And The President - Failed On Iraq," by Greg Mitchell. He's the editor of Editor & Publisher, and he's done a masterful job of assembling articles that show precisely how the press bent over for Chimpy Fucknuts and hung us - their clientele, the people who knew it was all bullshit from the beginning. - out to dry.

I really cannot recommend this book too highly.

I'll look into it.

They really are a frightening crew.

When will they be held responsible?
I know they know how to promote themselves,
but they are hardly what they say they are in their sell.

9. They're not journalists
Guys like Edward R. Murrow, who took responsibility and did their jobs the right way, were journalists. These assclowns are entertainers, that's all.

No one every knew what Murrow - let's use him as the paragon of journalists, because I think he was - thought about each and every little thing. I cannot imagine him appearing on Hardball and prattling on about what he thinks of the stories he's covered.

Take that ass, David Shuster. He was wrong about everything he reported during the Plame/Fitzgerald investigation. He predicted all sorts of indictments, that Karl Rove was gonna get nailed, and everything he reported was wrong. Not even close.

So, of course, he's now got his own show.

These people are one step below really bad stand-up comedians.

Get that book. I'm SERIES111!!!! It will just confirm what you already know, and it will enrage you. In a good way.

31. Good point on Edward R.
I'm alum of the Edward R. Murrow school at Washington State University. I believe in the values that Murrow held. Sadly, Clinton deregulated media just after I graduated. But on the bright side, I'm hopping Obama's future FCC Commissioner will address the problems in media. I'm confident they will. And BTW, Obama named Michael Copps as acting FCC chair. This is good. And I'll plug a book too. "Wizards of Media Oz" by Norman Soloman (I have an autographed copy, ha ha).

Good Night, and Good Luck. :patriot:

2. But really, they're paid to give the illusion we're divided
I know what you mean, it's sickening. But I've long known their function is to make us think we have a deeply divided nation, as represented by our 'politics.' When the truth is far from that.

and that 5 minutes was hard to take.

I've been out most of the day, and was just trying to catch up with what had been going on.

Where in the fuck is the honeymoon.

I know they "said" that they were easy on our New President, but that shit ain't even true.

And yes, I hope President Obama's FCC can do something about their lying biased asses.

23. I think it's hard enough to deal with right-wing BS when you're
Edited on Sat Jan-24-09 01:42 AM by defendandprotect
hearing it come from their own lips -- and so much of it has been pre-programmed by
"on point" recordings, etc. over decades.
To hear it even further spun by anchors and commentators from the corporate-side is
even worse.

I sympathize with many who think they're going to change media, but they
don't seem to understand that many of us were trying to do that 20 years ago.
It won't happen without anti-trust laws being enforced.
And, a return to the Fairness Doctrine.

I watched as GE kept Pat Buchanan propped up -- sexist, racist and homophobic.
"Crossfire" was an atrocity and I would watch 2 or 3 minutes of it and did my share of
letter writing, etc. But in the end, you have to realize that there is a reason why
the public can't change what is happening re media -- and that's monopoly control which
has been permitted by corruption of government by corporations/$$$.

The right wing fears any kind of truth, any info that can possibly benefit the public.
They favor violence of every kind on TV and kill anything on TV that could possibly be
healthful, helpful or informative.

Again -- I sympathize, but even C-span has been crushed over the years of GOP control ...
We've also had their Senate coverage taken away by Comcast almost two years ago!
I have to tune in via internet if I want to see it -- quite inconvenient.
The networks are way, way down on numbers of people watching, but they don't really care
if they can block info.
CNN went from something like 13 million internationally under Ted Turner to buy out bringing
them to 3 million viewers.

MSNBC-GE moved to Olbermann and now Maddow, IMO, because they saw the change coming in
leadership and wanted to keep their military bread buttered.
Also, I think, to try to knock out Jon Stewart. When he's gone, there will be nothing but
MSNBC.

7. TV's the result of 100 years of propaganda, both gov't and corporate
Corporate propaganda is used to sell their crap and most of it uses the lame old format of "creating tension" to supposedly attract the viewer's attention. It only changes when their products don't sell. Gov't propaganda never changes, they repeat the same lies, mantras and paradigms that promotes themselves regardless of how poorly it's received. What it all amounts to is a bunch of lying corpora-bots and government lackeys who are only interested in their own advancement.

10. Thank god for the internet, is all I can say
Without it, we could never hear both sides of the story, due to corporate media squashing the truth often.

Harder to discern fact from fiction, but knowing that going into it is still preferred over being spoon fed lies and hearing only one side of a conflict.

The only news programs I watch are Democracy Now and Countdown, both on podcasts to my iPod. If you haven't watched Democracy Now, I highly recommend it. Good reporting and it gives more international news, plus debates among scholars, than any other program I have seen that is still U.S.-centered.

and not hear incessant far right propaganda and vapid (or non-existant) analysis of public issues.

No he said/she said (i.e. nutters sought out to provide "balance) in every story about climate change or other scientific or ecological issues either.

Just open, honest debate about the news of the day, what's being discussed in parliament- the future of the nation- and of course, the usual dramas, crimes, fires and such.

In other words- a largely sane and responsible broadcast media (and great music, including new artists)- all across the country.

ones like myself tune out. Today, I walked in and turned on CNN and they were discussing the musical performance on Inauguration day and how the viewers didn't know it was recorded. Who really gives a fuck? It's ridiculous.

My friend called me in a rage the other night because Campbell Brown was going nuts over the hawaiian group in the parade and Sasha and Malia doing that hang loose sign or whatever it's called. Why is that news?

They suck, they are not journalists of old. We have all these extra stations now with cable and all of it's bullshit.

30. I hear you... that's why I pretty much steer clear of CNN and
have formally boycotted FOX (it'll be a year this February). Msnbc has news shows that I find worthwhile and informative (and sometimes entertaining) and for that I'm willing to put up with their little pockets of idiocy here and there too... Morning 'something' comes to mind, for example, I even get a kick (occasionally, let's not get carried away) with Buchanan, but he's primarily frustrating.

NovaM radio can be good, and so can NPR, PBS and C-SPAN. Web news is great, too, but just like cable, you have to weed out the garbage...

I would go nuts if I had to watch CNN... and I would kill my television if I had to watch Fox, which is something I will not do. And you know what? I haven't missed a thing! There is not one shred or moment of their programming that offers something more useful or more detailed or accurate that I cannot find elsewhere. The opposite is true, in fact. They are barely useful, except maybe for weather - but, again - that can be accessed elsewhere.

If you have access to news on the internet, you don't need to put yourself through such torture. : )

32. DID YOU KNOW??????
I should have thought of this before.

You can go to your local TV or radio station and request to see their public files? Yes you can! Yes we can! (where have I heard that before)?

Because it is the "public airwaves" you can view the public files of what the station is doing, or how it is performing. If you don't like the programming, you can write a request to FCC to deny station its licsense (google FCC.gov). They cannot deny you reading the public file because, well, you are the public. Simple as that.

If more people knew this, we would probably have more station GM's (General Managers) concerned about what kind of job their doing.

If station wants to know what can they do to do a better job? Just tell them what you want.

37. I went to the site, but I'm confused. The public files -
are the accessible only on request or is there a database to access (I'm guessing the former).

I'm a little confused... so you're saying that there are public files that are incongruous with what is broadcast?? Or are you saying that these public files are a way of validating something you see on air and deem worthy of a complaint (for inaccuracy, false representation or misleading information, etc.)?

Sorry to sound like such a dunce but I'm not connecting the dots, here...I think this is a valuable tool, but I'm not sure in what capacity it can be utilized... : (

Maybe I'm just over tired... I'm going to bring up the site again after a good night's sleep (if I can get one - insomnia yet again rears it's ugly head - which is probably why I'm a little befuddled).

I wasn't quite awake and had CNN on the tele one morning and they had that former cbs anchor "commenting" on bad form it was
that the audience booed. You fucking asshole John roberts, basically you're saying that **sh screwing us and the massive lying was ok.

right after that, they had on BOB FRUM - to "analyze" Obamas speech. Why this neo-con loser whose ideology IS A TOTAL FAILURE IN REALITY? btw, he started a group called "the new majority"- I guess if they still believe that stuff about saying enough it it comes true. It was so laughably bitter and off the mark, plus "those people will believe anything."

Of course they didn't call him on that one.
