Sam Brownback is angry at Obama about closing Gittmo
He has been on talk radio here in Kansas.
The truth is he has already announced he is not running for re-election in 2010 and is rumored to be running for governor.
He is angry at Obama and will not allow any 'terrorists' to be moved to Leavenworth Military Prison in Kansas. Brownback said these are "terrorists", the "worst of the worse" and they are not welcome in his state. He also said they were NOT tortured, but were interrogated using "persuasive questioning techniques".
He vowed to continue to pressure Obama until he is assured the detainees will NOT be coming to Kansas.
Then Sam said goodbye to the radio host who was interviewing him and hung up before any listeners could call in and talk to him.
Now here's the kicker. Brownback and other state leaders are thrilled that Kansas was chosen as the site of a new biodefense lab.
Terrorists - NO/ Biological weapons and diseases - Yes
Makes zero sense to me. But it appears I am in the minority. I feel a far greater threat from a minor accident at this biodefense lab than I do from a 'terrorist' who is detained in a military prison.
And another kicker - our governor agrees with Brownback. Our wonderful Democratic governor Kathleen Sebelius thinks the biodefense lab is wonderful and also does not want any Gittmo detainees moved here. (Anyone still think she would have been a great addition to Obama's cabinet?)
where can we store the GOP legions away from the general prison populations? Republiscum are a negative influence on the murderers, drug dealers, and thieves we are reforming. We don't need any more pedophiles and war criminals.
"He is angry at Obama and will not allow any 'terrorists' to be moved to Leavenworth Military Prison in Kansas. Brownback said these are "terrorists", the "worst of the worse" and they are not welcome in his state."
Somehow I don't think he has a say in this, since Leavenworth Military Prison is a FEDERAL facility.
