Requests flood in for 'Queen of Soul's' (Aretha Franklin) custom hat
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/inauguration_aretha_s_hat

DETROIT – The calls began to flood Luke Song's hat shop not long after Aretha Franklin finished belting out "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at President Barack Obama's inauguration.

Franklin, who wore a gray felt custom-designed hat from Mr. Song Millinery, has inadvertently caused an economic boom for the South Korean immigrant's store.

Song said he wasn't prepared for the hundreds of calls requesting the hat with a Swarovski rhinestone-bordered bow.

"We even have a lot of men calling to get it for their wives, mothers and grandmothers," Song said.

1. I love that hat!
I thought it looked like something she stole from Grace Jones' closet and attacked with a Bedazzler!

I love, love, love that hat! I'm sure it would be too rich for my wallet.

5. It was very cool, to be sure....
I loved the hat on Ms. Franklin, as well as Michele Obama's day suit, and ballgown! The whole day was fashion-a-licious!

However, regarding the ballgown, I've been tempted to send the young Mr. Wu a note/e-mail about the practice of sewing a fabric loop into the lower inner seam of a ballgown so that when a lady with a train on her dress wants to dance (or walk w/o dirtying her dress), she can slip the loop over her wrist (or hold it in her hand) and the train will not impair her (or her partner's) dancing or walking ability...Nor will the dress bottom get dirty. That's what was always done 'back in the 'old days' (don't ask me how I know that ;-) )
