Even my aged Republican mother
said it was touching to see all the Black people overwhelmed by emotion at the inauguration, especially the old timers like the Tuskegee Airmen.

Believe me, that is *way* out of character. She (unfortunately) listens to Rush Limbaugh almost every day.

She's a great person in many ways, but politically pretty stunted. So it was really encouraging to have that conversation with her.

2. Tell your mom that this 52-y.o. white woman was totally overwhelmed!
I'm glad mom might be coming around. My 81-year old dad has, sort of. He stayed up late on Nov. 4, but I don't know about yesterday.
He was a Clinton supporter, so he can't be that bummed.

4. Some Republican friends of mine in NY -
father and two kids - who used to call me a "bleeding heart liberal" and give me no end of grief about my political views - all voted for Obama and she sent me a drink via facebook yesterday. What a change.
